The Cutest Things We Made in 2018

Posted on December 28, 2018 by , , ,

We’re all pretty crafty here at SCK so Andi suggested we share our favourite makes of the year.

Marceline’s Cute Makes

Creative Kawaii Subscription Box

I had quite a crafty 2019 – I still enjoy making things with pom poms like my snowman and the bumblebee from the Creative Kawaii box.

felt flowers bouquet

My favourite thing is the felt bouquet of flowers I made in a post-Japan jet lag haze. It’s a kit by The Handmade Florist and so satisfying – it looks very pretty on my mantelpiece with a couple of bumblebees on sticks.

Animal Crossing cosplay

My favourite handmade item has to be the cosplay outfit I made. I’d always wanted to try cosplay but never found the right character until I started playing Animal Crossing Pocket Camp and fell in love with the fruit tart dress and matching hat. I already set up my character to look like me so just needed to make the outfit which I did by cutting all the different parts out of felt and sewing them onto a simple plain white dress.

It was really satisfying seeing it all come together but also quite stressful to get it all done in time to wear at Hyper Japan in the summer. I’m really proud of how it turned out and I got lots of positive comments which was so lovely!

Snowman Cinnamoroll Christmas Ornament Tutorial

The snowman Cinnamoroll ornament from the SCK tutorial! 2018 has been quite a busy year for me so I’ve been somewhat stuck in an involuntary craft hiatus, but I enjoyed being able to craft a quick item that actually turned out cute. My 2019 resolution is definitely to craft more!

Natasja’s Cute Makes

To be honest I spent way too little time this year creating items :( I hope to find more time for it next year and would like to pick up kawaii journaling again. During the super hot Summer days I did find time to create new kawaii jewelry for my Etsy shop (^_^).

I also really enjoyed working with the Tepra Label Printer, that I use for labeling and decorating. You can find washi label DIY ideas in this post, such as the card which is quite easy and quick to make.

What have you made this year?
