Koko Kawaii is a small company from Australia, run by Brittany & Arumi. They offer a quarterly My Stationery Subscription to share their obsession with stationery with you and each subscription contains exclusive stationery illustrated by independent artists. They kindly sent me a Stationery Box to review.
I received the Stationery Box from October 2021. This review is late, because the box only arrived at the beginning of February! It did have to travel all the way from Australia to the Netherlands (EU), but shipping took much longer than usual. The delay was caused by Covid, custom changes and by our postal services, who even placed a ‘sorry for the delay’ sticker on the box. This shipping delay was an exception, as other boxes they sent at the same time arrived much quicker.
Now back to the box itself ^_^ When you open it, you are greeted by confetti and a lovely card with extra stickers! And there’s a small card with a $5 AUD discount code that you can use to refer friends, to receive a mystery gift in return.
Every quarter Koko Kawaii partners with an independent illustrator to create unique stationery products. The box that I received was themed ‘Snail Mail’ with illustrations from Nicole Josephine.
Die Cut Stickers
Each box, no matter the theme, will include 4 die cut stickers of about 6.8 cm (2.7 inch). The snail mail themed stickers in my box looked super cute! They’ve got a glossy coating, so you can stick them onto your laptop or tablet case as well.
Washi Tapes
You’ll also find 3 washi tapes. Each tape is 15mm in width and 10m in length, so you can use it for many projects to come. The washi has a good amount of transparency to it and sticks well. The snail mail themed tapes contain tiny illustrations that you could cut out individually.
Memo Pad
The memo pad (of about 50 sheets) has got such a nice design! The paper is a bit smooth and feels nice to write on. However I noticed a small manufacturing problem. Some pages had black printer marks on the back, leaving a couple of tiny specks on the front. I’ve contacted Brittany from Koko Kawaii about it and if you happen to receive a faulty item, they will replace it. So this small business has got you covered ^_^.
Sticker Sheets
Each box also contains 3 stickers sheets, printed on matte paper. These will be great to use in your journal, on envelopes or even as part of a snail mail package. The designs from Nicole Josephine are in line with the other cute stationery in this box. I can’t wait to use them.
Keychain
The last item that is included in each quarterly Stationery Box is an acrylic keychain. What’s not to like about this cute stationery-loving bunny? The keychain comes with a protective film on both sides, to make sure it arrives free of any scratches. I love to hang these kinds of keychains from my pen case or bag, to add a touch of kawaii to them.
Mystery product: Postcards
Each box also includes mystery products and the first one for this Snail Mail Stationery Box is a set of 9 cute postcards! Each sturdy postcard has got a printed faux stamp on the back and plenty of space to write on. You can even use the right side to write on, and mail the post card inside an envelope.
Mystery product: Letter set
The second mystery item is this cute letter set with 6 sheets of writing paper (in 2 designs) and 3 envelopes. The illustrations on the sheet have a bit of gloss on them, which is a nice touch. The set included writing prompts as well, which I might use as journaling prompts.
Summary
I’m quite impressed by the contents of the My Stationery Subscription box. I love how all the stationery items fit together and that it’s been illustrated by an independent artist. This makes it easy to mix and match the stationery in your kawaii journal or snail mail. The quality of the items is also very good (aside from the little manufacturing problem of the memo pad).
The box contains 14-15 exclusive stationery products and if you buy these products individually at the Koko Kawaii shop, the total would be at least $75 AUD (approx $54/£40) So the box is a good deal, especially if you are looking for cute stationery with unique designs.
