We don’t just write about kawaii at SCK – we buy it too! Researching blog posts always tempts us to spend and we love to support our favourite artists, makers and shops – something that felt even more important in 2020. I asked the team to tell us about their most kawaii purchases from this year.

Mail deliveries have always been the highlight of my day but even more so this year! I’ve been ordering a few treats each month to cheer me up – some of my favourites were snacks from JapanHaul, Patreon mail from Tiny Plant and pikaole, and all those super cute stickers I shared here recently. But my cutest purchase has to be this little plushie Rilakkuma bunny from the Korilakkuma Rabbit Tea Time collection – I missed out on the initial release but tracked it down later on Cuteness.nl (it’s gone there too now but they have other sold out items from the collection).

I also celebrated the 1 year anniversary of our book, The Super Cute Book of Kawaii, by commissioning a tiny wearable edition handmade by From New Leaf. It’s so perfect!

2020 was the year that I purchased my first face mask, which I guess was a first for many of you too. Lacking the time to make one myself, I decided to order a cute handmade mask off Etsy from a local seller called Liefstejurkje. This face mask feels very soft and it’s easy to see what way to wear it (with paper masks, I tend to wear them upside down ;)).

I really got into kawaii journaling this year and decorating the pages is my favorite part. So sometimes I spoil myself with stationery items ^_^ Looking for local sellers, I stumbled upon the cute creations from Violet Jim Art and ordered some stickers sheets from her. The stickers were just as cute in person and I’ll certainly use them in my journal.

I love the Inkeri the goat plush I bought from Trendy Not. She is so soft and sweet!

I had to (try) to slow down my spending habits on kawaii things this year, but some of my favorite things were from my first-time purchase from the Asheelily Etsy shop, as well as most of Fujibee’s releases! I bought all of the Animal Crossing items, including stickers and stamp washi which is probably one of my all-time favorite tapes that I own now.

This adorable needle minder from Chapel View Crafts on Etsy looks good enough to eat! It has been a game changer for me as no more frantic searching for mislaid needles.

It’s important to continue showing support for the Black Lives Matter campaign. I love the design of this leopard pin and stickers by arieandream and she donates 100% of the profits to organisations which help black communities.
Check back tomorrow for the rest of our 2020 favourites!
