We reviewed a lot of cute stuff this year so here’s a few of our favourites and the most popular kawaii reviews of 2019.
Pusheen Box
We’ve been having a lot of fun reviewing the Pusheen Box this year with more to come in 2020. Nicolette’s Summer Box was a staff favourite as we loved Sailor Pusheen. The Spring Box got the most visits, probably due to the full cost breakdown, and I have to mention the Fall Box as all the Halloween stuff was so cute!
Sophie & Toffee Little Twin Stars Elves Box
Andi is our resident craft writer with a love of both Sanrio and resin crafts so this Elves Box was a perfect match – I love it when that happens! This was a really detailed review that was interesting to read, whether or not you know anything about resin crafts.
Pinkoi Shopping Experience
When Natasja wrote a post about the Asian Etsy-style marketplace, Pinkoi, I immediately suggested she should place a couple of orders and write a review to advise SCK readers whether to give it a try. Thankfully, it all went well and we have a new site to browse for independent artists. Andi already bought a few things too!
Shippon & Chuppon Animal Planters
We like to take our time to try out a product fully and take lots of photos before we publish it online. I went a bit too far with these self-watering planters though as it took four years! I’m glad I finally found them and will be giving them another go in the spring.
Kawaii Origami Book Review
We reviewed a few craft and recipe books this year, but I especially enjoy it when there’s time to try a few projects and see how they turn out. I’m sure Natasja’s cute makes from Paper Kawaii’s Kawaii Origami book made many of us want to give it a go too.
Doki Doki Crate / Japan Crate
Subscription box reviews are always popular as everyone wants to know what you really get inside and whether it’s worth the money. It was nice to have another look at Japan Crate and Doki Doki Crate, for snacks and kawaii, both of which impressed me.
DIY Fluffies Monkey Plush Sewing Pattern
I hope we can review more craft kits and patterns next year as it’s always fun to see how well – or not – our results match the original. Andi made this cute fluffy monkey plush entirely by hand and it still turned out like the pattern photo.
Bokksu Japanese Snack Subscription Box
The last review of the year, and one of the most interesting. Bokksu’s Snowy Hokkaido box of local and seasonal treats from Japan was really fun to try out and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on future themes.
Most of these products were gifted to us for free in return for a review. We only ever agree to reviews that fit our audience and make sure to share our honest opinions and lots of photos and information. If there’s anything you’d like us to review, leave a comment or contact us any time and we’ll see what we can do.
