TokyoTreat & Sakuraco create monthly snack boxes to let you experience Japan from the comfort of your own home with seasonal and limited edition snacks and drinks. We’ve teamed up with them to show you what’s inside so here’s a look at the current boxes, themed around Autumn in Sakai and matcha. They’re available now – look out for a special discount at the end!

TokyoTreat – Matcha Fall Rush
Enjoy the fun flavours of Autumn in Japan with TokyoTreat’s Matcha Fall Rush box, packed full of Japan’s coolest and craziest seasonal treats! Inside each fun and exclusive monthly snack box you’ll find a Japan-exclusive premium snack, limited-edition chips, noodles and more. This month there are 12 different sweet and savoury items, including matcha, plum and chestnut flavours, instant ramen noodles, a surprise snack and gachapon toy, plus a colour booklet. 3 items aren’t suitable for vegetarians this month, including the noodles.
Highlights
- Plum Potato Chips – Glad we got a big pack of these light ridged crisps. The plum flavour is unusual but a bit like a more tangy and tart salt & vinegar.
- Uji Matcha Castella – The softest, fluffiest cake ever! I basically inhaled this and the matcha offsets the sweetness perfectly.
- Matcha Chocolate Wafer – Matcha chocolate cream sandwiched between two super-thin and light wafers. The chocolate is sweet enough that even matcha haters would enjoy this.
- Matcha Waffle Cookie – I was a little surprised to see two similar-looking cookies but these couldn’t be more different to the wafers with a thick crunchy waffle and just the right amount of cream inside.
- Strawberry & Peach Gummies – These fruity gummies come in a resealable pack, which is great as they’re large and really chewy so its best to savour them.

Sakuraco – Sakai’s Autumn Wonder
Experience historical Sakai’s Autumn Wonder with Sakuraco’s latest snack box. Each monthly box contains 20 traditional seasonal sweets, Japanese tea, and an exclusive homeware item – all supporting local makers across Japan, plus a colour booklet. For this month’s box, there’s Konpeito, Miyako Konbu and Hojicha tea from the area and Autumnal treats like Momiji Senbei and Sweet Potato Yokan, plus a pair of beautiful lacquerware chopsticks. 4 items aren’t veggie-friendly.
Highlights
- Castella Manju – Castella-style dough filled with a smooth sweet bean paste. Simple but extremely delicious paired with a cup of the hojicha.
- Miyako Konbu – I wish there was more in a pack, because the seasoning on this is really addictive. The tangy flavour reminded me of salt and vinegar crisps, but with a fruitier edge. Super delicious.
- Milk Bell Castella – I’m not normally a castella fan, but these are extremely moist and not overly sweet and I wanted to eat the whole bag in one sitting.
- Awa Okoshi – The kick of fresh ginger you get from these crunchy rice treats really elevates them and I was extremely surprised by how much I enjoyed them.
- Sweet Potato Yokan – Firm, flavourful but not overly sweet. I really enjoyed these along with the hojicha. They taste like the inside of a sweet potato that’s been mixed with honey and they really made me think of autumn.
