The longer nights are drawing in and with them some beautifully clear stargazing nights. While we can’t normally see the Milky Way or too deep into the galaxy, we can recreate them and the incredible colours in our desserts and treats instead.

These galaxy cupcakes from My Home Based Life pack a tiny solar system onto the top of each one, using gum balls and liquorice for planets, sprinkles for the stars and a mix of frosting for the swirling space itself.

This mirror glaze galaxy cake from Also the Crumbs Please doesn’t just look spectacular from the outside, it also houses many surprises inside in the shape of the entire solar system! This is definitely a challenge involving many steps, but the outcome looks out of this world…

Different animals with their very own constellations appear on these constellation cookies from Sprinkle Bakes. As not all of them are real constellations, these could be used as inspiration for any shapes or forms you wanted to create.

These mini melt in your mouth shortbread bites are made from a tube of colour-mixed cookie dough chopped into little bite sized pieces. The white sugar sprinkles and stars just make them all the more sparkly.

The Tipsy Macaron also adds star sprinkles to the top of their macarons to give an extra cosmic touch to the galaxy-esque swirls of colour.

Butterfly pea flower tea is the secret behind the amazing colour in this lemonade slushie from The Flavour Bender. As the tea ice mixes with the lemon juice, it changes colour from a dark blue to purple and pink and creates an incredible view in a glass. Science is incredible.

A mix of popcorn, marshmallows and sprinkles make for a bowl full of fun at any space themed gathering. While this recipe uses black candy melts as a covering for the popcorn to emulate the darkness of space, I think dark chocolate would do just as good of a job and tastier too!
