It’s a big summer for sports fans and our favourite kawaii characters and brands are getting involved too. Whether you’re heading to an event or supporting a team from the sofa, these cute picks will keep things kawaii.

Obviously World Cup football is the current global obsession and Build-A-Bear (global) have a few new footie friends, including Let’s Goal Bear and Pawlette Bunny. You can dress them – or any BAB plush – in various team fan kits too (which countries seems to depend on your region).

Even though I don’t care for football, I was still disappointed that Japan haven’t come up with any kawaii merch. There’s always sporty pup Pochacco though and Plaza Japan (JP) have a cute Pochacco soccer collection from T’s Factory with plush, keychains and pouches.

Hello Kitty is a big baseball fan and has partnered with 5 MLB teams for new merch at Sanrio (US). As well as plush mascots – including some for individual players – there’s a handy range of clear bags to take to the stadium with you.

I feel confident saying that cricket fans don’t generally get kawaii merch but Hello Kitty & Friends Love Cricket in this new collab with the ICC (UK) for the Women’s T20 World Cup. There’s a couple of adult-sized tees & hoodie plus lots more for girls and kids.

Meccha Japan (JP) have a very cute new range of Pokemon Pokepeace plush keychains up for preorder that has designs for fans of soccer, tennis, baseball and basketball. If your favourite sport is more obscure, Minun & Plusle have pom poms and flags to join in and cheer them on.

The Amuseables Sports collection at Jellycat (UK/US) starts out normal enough with various sports balls but soon gets very silly with a whistle, kettleball and even red and yellow cards. Their expressions are just perfect 10/10.

If you’re doing some journaling about your team, or as a distraction from a tense match (or all the ad breaks…), Pipsticks (US) have lots of cute sports stickers with fun designs and finishes. Or grab a Sporty Squad Kids Pack with loads of stickers and activities.

Personally, the Tour de France is my sports highlight of every summer, and this year I’ll be watching while riding my own bike on the home trainer. The new LEGO road bike looks super fun to build with so many cool little details. The LEGO shop (global) has lots of other sporty sets too including football, basketball and F1.
I really don’t know if we have any sporty readers so let us know if you’d like an activewear/accessories post too.
