TokyoTreat & Sakuraco create monthly snack boxes to let you experience Japan from the comfort of your own home with seasonal and limited edition snacks and drinks. We’ve teamed up with them to show you what’s inside so here’s a look at the current boxes which are available now – look out for a special discount below!

TokyoTreat – Konbini Snackin’

You can’t visit Japan without making many trips to the konbini for snacks, but now you can get that experience at home with TokyoTreat’s fun and exclusive snack box. Each monthly box is filled with limited-edition KitKats, specialty-flavoured Japanese chips, seasonal treats, and occasional Japanese sodas that are only available in Japan for a limited time. This month there are 15 different sweet and savoury items, including a full size bag of KitKats and instant noodles, plus a colour booklet. 3 items in our box are not veggie-friendly (noodles, gummies, senbei) but there is also a random surprise item in each box, some of which are not vegetarian.

Emma’s Favourites

  • Matcha Chocolate KitKats – I discovered these in Osaka on my last trip and fell in love with them, so I was thrilled to find them in the box this month. While keeping the bitterness from the original Matcha KitKats, the chocolate gives it a more dessert like feeling which I absolutely love.
  • Earl Grey Baumkuchen – moist and delicious with a fantastic Earl Grey flavour.
  • Sour Paper Candy Apple – The perfect mix of sweet and sour with a juicy apple flavour.
  • Butter Soy Sauce Potato Sticks – This is the perfect snack to eat while watching a film, but they’re super moreish so will disappear pretty quickly. Super crispy and buttery with an unmistakeable soy sauce flavour.
  • Crunchy Chocolate Almonds – A thick layer of rich chocolate covering a crisp whole almond inside – so yummy. I could have eaten the whole bag in one sitting, but it comes with a handy reseal feature so I managed to control myself.

Sakuraco – Taste of Kyushu

Treat yourself or a loved one and experience the tastes and specialities of Japan’s southernmost main island, Kyushu, with a box of Sakuraco snacks. Each monthly box contains 20 traditional, authentic, and artisan Japanese snacks from local snack makers across Japan, including Japanese teas, a special Japanese tableware item and a full colour booklet. For this month’s box, there’s Kuzukiri chilled noodles, Chiran Ryokucha tea and a beautiful pair of Wakasa Lacquer Chopsticks. 2 items aren’t suitable for vegetarians (gummies/marshmallow).

Marceline’s Favourites

  • Kumamoto Watermelon Gummies – One of 3 cutely-packaged items featuring Kumamoto’s mascot Kumamon. These fruity gummies celebrate the local watermelons and have a liquid centre for extra juiciness.
  • Kuzukiri – Chilled chewy noodles in a sweet honey sauce is definitely something different to try and I was a little hesitant but it was very refreshing in the hot weather we’re having.
  • Nagasaki Honey Castella – A lovely soft moist sponge cake with a subtle honey sweetness.
  • Gyokoro Chocolate Wafer – Pretty wafers sandwiched with matcha chocolate for a grown-up treat.
  • Issa Senbei – These crisp rice crackers really stand out with their striking white on green design.
