It’s been a while since we had a new kawaii character to introduce you to! Meet Pembe & Little Pembe, a lovable pink cat duo from Denmark, plus where to buy their cute merch.
We’re not exactly short of cute cat characters but there’s always room for more. Pembe the Pink Cat was originally created in 2025 as as a gif but after it went viral, Pembe has since expanded into comics, videos and products. Pembe has a big heart and an even bigger belly, while Little Pembe represents his emotions. Together they aim to promote self-acceptance, inclusivity, empathy, courage, creativity and fun with a catchphrase of “Hey You! Be You!”
The official Pembe website has an online shop (EU) which currently only sells a selection of keychains. They’re very cute though with Pembe dressed up as everything from a painter and chef to a viking and superhero, all with cat-shaped Danish flags.
I first noticed Pembe through Blueprint’s licensed collection, which is available through their official Amazon store (UK). Everything is so kawaii and positive with stationery, stickers, bags, water bottles and lunch accessories.
Rainbow Designs have also created a licensed collection with big and small plush, bento box mix & match keychains, squishies and more. They only sell wholesale so look out for stockists near you. HMV (UK) have most items in stock, while Hot Topic (US) have some blind box plushies.
There’s also an official Cute and Cosy Colouring Book available for preorder, arriving in October and I’m sure we’ll see lots more merch in future.
