TokyoTreat & Sakuraco create monthly snack boxes to let you experience Japan from the comfort of your own home with seasonal and limited edition snacks and drinks. We’ve teamed up with them to show you what’s inside so here’s a look at the current boxes, themed around Halloween and Ukiyo-e art. They’re available now – look out for a special discount at the end!

TokyoTreat – Halloween Fright Fest
Trick or TokyoTreat? There’s really no choice when the Halloween Fright Fest box comes jam-packed full of Japan’s coolest and craziest treats for spooky season! Inside each fun and exclusive monthly snack box you’ll find a Japan-exclusive premium snack, limited-edition chips, noodles and more. This month there are 14 different sweet and savoury items, including a full size bag of KitKats, instant veggie noodles and a surprise snack, plus a colour booklet. Unfortunately, over half the items aren’t suitable for vegetarians this month.
Highlights
- NY Cheesecake KitKats – I was happy to get this Spider-Man collab as it’s a new flavour for me. It initially just tastes like white chocolate but it’s thicker and richer with a nice tang.
- Ghost Marshmallows – a big pack of cute little ghost-shaped marshmallows in 3 colours and flavours – cherry, soda/ramune and monster berry! They do all taste fairly similar but the fruity flavours are less sweet than plain ones – so you can eat more!
- Black Pumpkin Gratin potato rings – The black colour is very surprising – and spooky! They don’t taste weird at all though with a savoury flavour that I wouldn’t have guessed was pumpkin.
- Pokemon Halloween Chocolate Puffs – The packaging is very kawaii (mine featured Piplup) and the snacks are in the shape of Pikachu’s head. They’re definitely chocolately in a breakfast cereal way, but I could also taste brown sugar, which makes them a little more complex.
- Creepy Crawlie Yakisoba Noodles – Quick and easy to make with a mild spiciness that builds up to make your lips tingle. I decorated mine with some carrot stars and cheese ghosts!

Sakuraco – Echoes of Ukiyo-e
Step back into the past and experience the floating world of Japanese woodcut prints with Sakuraco’s Ukiyo-e box. Each monthly box contains 20 traditional seasonal sweets, Japanese tea, and an exclusive homeware item – all supporting local makers across Japan, plus a colour booklet. For this month’s box, there’s a feast for eyes and tastebuds with printed cookies & marshmallows, matcha yokan and spiral karinto, plus Kuromame black bean tea and a traditional Kaya cloth. Only 1 item isn’t veggie-friendly (curry senbei).
Highlights
- Ukiyo-e Printed Cookies – Just like tiny framed Hokusai prints, but edible! The biscuits are so light and buttery too.
- Spiral Karinto – These look like shells with a cool striped design, but are made of fried dough with a crunchy sticky sugar coating.
- Chestnut Manju – Chestnut snacks always make me nostalgic for my Autumn Japan trips and these mini manju have white bean paste and chestnut pieces inside a soft pastry shell. You get a whole bag too.
- Curry Senbei – Surprisingly spicy with a strong flavour that made me crave Japanese curry rice.
- Twisted Arare – I could eat multiple packets of these salty twisted rice crackers, especially as they’re so airy and light.
