It feels like the Spring flowers and blossoms are very slow to arrive this year but there’s always the DIY option if you don’t have the real thing yet. I’ve found some recent craft patterns, kits and tutorials to choose from that would also be lovely as Mother’s Day gifts.

Robotime (global) have lots of fun craft kits for flowers and bouquets including miniatures and wooden puzzle kits. The new releases are especially cool and the Blooming Bouquet Box on the right has lights and movement so the flowers open and close very realistically – check the video to see it in action.
The Handmade Florist has a new Felt Flower Makealong starting soon with a set of free patterns and tutorials that are exclusive to subscribers so make sure you’re signed up in advance. While you wait, there’s lots of lovely kits and patterns to buy (UK) and some free projects too.

Tsumami is a traditional Japanese craft to make flowers from fabric. Dreaming of Tokyo (UK) have a Spring Bouquet craft kit that comes with everything you need including English instructions and a wooden frame to display your work.

Pixels & Purls also have a Spring Bouquet embroidery pattern in vibrant colours that will last much longer than the real thing. It’s available as a digital pattern as well as printed fabric and a full kit (UK).
Cup of Needles has lots of lovely floral embroidery patterns including full hoops and a whole floral alphabet, all of which include stitchalong videos to help you out. Most are affordable paid patterns but this Botanical Embroidery design is free and includes a few motifs you can arrange as you like.

This Gathering Bright Blooms cross stitch pattern at Stitched Modern (US) looks very striking on a dark background but you also have the option to stitch individual flowers for a quicker project or a card (see our Cute Cross Stitch Card Tutorial). It’s available as a pattern or kit for aida or linen.

Nuvolina Handmade is sharing free felt sewing patterns every month on Instagram and there’s 2 flower designs so far – a tulip frame and miniature flowers from scraps with a cork pot. There’s also loads more cute flower, plant and spring-themed patterns to download in the Nuvolina Handmade Etsy shop.
How pretty is this origami cherry blossoms wreath from NiceNo1? I love the 3D look of the sakura flowers, which are from a separate tutorial so you can just make a few of those – and even size up the paper to make it easier.
If that looks too difficult, here’s a much simpler sakura flower from kokkogarden8585 that anyone can make.

Or try this free printable card from Botanical Paperworks with flowers made from folded confetti hearts. It’s been designed to use the seed paper confetti they sell (US) but you could use other heart confetti or cut your own.
You can find lots more creative ideas in our Spring Crafts, Activities & Recipes category too.
