Were you one of those kids who was obsessed with Ancient Egypt? I was a space nerd myself but I’ve been noticing a lot of kawaii takes on Ancient Egypt that I had to share.
There’s a new Ancient Egypt exhibition in Japan just now and they’ve created some amazing Rilakkuma and Sumikko Gurashi merchandise for it. The plushies are all hilarious especially the little mummified Tapioca with a coffin but click through to see them all. The collection is exclusive to the exhibition venues and not available online but if you have a Japan trip planned, it’s traveling around the country until early 2022.
The pinnacle of kawaii Ancient Egypt has of course already been reached by tokidoki (US) – remember the huge Kittypatra statue? You can still pick up a cute shiny embroidered Cleo Unicorno plush.
Choose your favourite Egyptian god from the super cute enamel pins of Anubis, Bastet, Horus, Apep, Wenet and Sobek at Rabbitfolly (Canada).
Or you can get kawaii versions of 21 Egyptian gods and mythological creatures as stickers (and some pins too) from Mamath (Australia).
My personal favourite for Ancient Egypt is Ankha from Animal Crossing and I really hope she turns up on my New Horizons island. This beautiful hoop art embroidery by Dairyfree Stitchery (USA) really captures her personality.
And we can’t finish this post without Cakes With Faces (UK), who have a whole Party of Your Afterlife collection with pins, t-shirts and dress.
