Hyper Japan‘s summer event takes place next weekend in London. It’s one of the most kawaii events in the world and well worth attending if you can make it. We’ll be sending Nicolette along to cover it as usual (see all our previous posts) and here’s what to look forward to.
Tofu Cute, ARTBOX & Dreamy Bows
Our favourite UK kawaii stores always have some fun new stuff for Hyper Japan and this year is no different. Tofu Cute will have a Matsuri Area where you can play Japanese festival games and win gachapon, drinks and snacks, plus a wishing well, photo area and all the usual cute products. Look out for special lucky bags, too including Sanrio Originals at ARTBOX.
More Cute Shopping
This year, there are over 200 kawaii stalls to shop at! There isn’t a full exhibitor list yet but SCK faves like Japan Centre, Cakes With Faces, Fuzzballs, Love Jojo and Box Monster will be back.
Fashion & Cosplay
If you love to dress up, or just enjoy everyone else’s outfits and costumes, there’s plenty opportunities with a fashion show, cosplay parade and more.
There’s a great line-up on the Hyper Live stage with everything from J-Pop idols to rock groups plus DJs, dance and traditional Japanese instruments. See who’s taking part.
Indulge in all your favourite Japanese flavours with a food court full of ramen, katsu, bubble tea, waffles and more. There’s also a sweets gallery and food show where you can find out more about Japanese food and drink.
& much more!
As well as all that, there’s a gaming area, cinema, panels and craft classes including an ita bag workshop with YY Kawaii (you need to book that in advance). Check out Cakes with Faces’ video round-up of 8 must-do things for even more ideas.
Hyper Japan takes place from 13-15 July at Olympia in London’s West End and tickets are still available. If you can’t make it, follow SCK on Instagram for live updates over the weekend.
