Sakura Journaling Picks To Buy & DIY

Posted on March 23, 2021 by

While the month of March marks the beginning of cherry blossom season in Japan, many of us won’t be able to enjoy the blooms in person. But it’s still fun to create things to celebrate them. I love the visuals of the flower for journaling, so here are some of my favorite journaling picks for the season.

Sakura Journaling stickers

This time of year, most Japanese stationery brands bring out cute cherry blossom-themed items, but you can find lots of stationery options from independent artists as well, like this adorable shiba dango sticker from Sakura Cat Designs (US).

Sakura Journaling washi tape

The Caribou Milk shop (HK) has some die cut cherry blossom washi tape options that would make any journal spread or planner layout really pop.

Sakura Journaling patterned paper

In a pinch, decorative paper can double as just about anything—washi tape, memo sheets, backgrounds, even envelopes you can paste into your journal. Hello S has an inexpensive digital cherry blossom paper pack that comes with 8 different designs, which is a great way to make a full journal spread on a budget.

Sakura Journaling printables

There are free printables to be had too! The Craftberry Bush blog has a post that includes both a how-to painting video AND the finished free printable for a cherry blossom heart wreath print that’s very pretty.

You don’t have to buy anything to journal or plan, though. Even with just a pen and some coloring supplies, you can make a great setup. Just following AmandaRachLee’s sakura drawing tutorial could help you get started.

If you happen to have some recycled materials that match the theme lying around, RainbowholicTV has a fun video for a DIY paper bag journal where she uses a recycled sakura season bag from Starbucks.

Both beginners and seasoned planner fans may find it helpful to watch journal/plan with me videos to get inspiration for their own spreads, like nogachannel’s video on creating a cherry blossom themed planner spread.

And more casual journalists that prefer to just record their daily life may find inspiration in Inês Lin’s cherry blossom theme journal with me video.
