Kawaii Cat DIYs & Patterns

In case you didn’t already know by the week of cat posts on the blog…today is Cat Day! While it may technically be happening in Japan today, there’s still no reason you can’t join in on the fun by celebrating with some nyanko crafts! Here’s a round-up of the cutest DIYs and patterns I could find to make today even cuter!

For a free and very easy project, you can check out BudgetHobby’s tutorial on how to make a Bongo Cat sock plush. It requires just a sock, a bit of felt, and some thread, so it’s highly likely you already have what you need! It’s also a good choice for sewing beginners.

An easy paper craft is this cat face origami tutorial by sakura tanaka. You could make several and turn them into a garland, and even customize them by coloring them to look like your own kitties if you have any! If you spend time with with friends or family today, the finished origami pieces would also be cute little gifts to give out to bring awareness to people who don’t know today is Cat Day.

If you have some clay and resin laying around, Creative Rachy has a super adorable video showing you how to make a clay kitty lounging in a pool. It’s a really fun idea, and a great reminder there are warmer days ahead! And as always, Rachel does a fantastic job of breaking down and explaining the steps so it’s simple for even inexperienced clay crafters.

A good idea for daily journaling is to make a cat-themed spread for today’s entry. Doodles and sketches are always fun to add to pages, so why not try including Draw So Cute’s kitten doodle?

The crochet fans out there are in luck—Snacksies Handicraft has a very cute fisherman kitty amigurumi pattern available for download. It’s inexpensive and small, so it’s a relatively quick make. It definitely reminds me of Snowball from Neko Atsume!
