The votes have been counted for the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking and the winners announced! Let’s check out the favourites and look at some cute products. Some items are available from multiple stockists so use our shopping guide to see if there are other options near you.

Congratulations to Pompompurin! The pudding pup holds the top spot for a second year running, comfortably beating out all rivals, and with 9 of the 14 countries/regions picking him as their favourite. There’s already some special new plush and we can all look forward to even more cute merch later in the year.

While Cinnamoroll held the top spot for a long time, they can be proud of second place. They’re still best of the rest with a big gap over all the others and still the number one pick for fans in Italy, France and the Chinese Mainland.

Pochacco makes it a repeat all-dog podium of 2025, managing to hold off a few others to keep his third place. partly thanks to all his fans in Taiwan & South Korea.

The top 10 also features the same characters as last year, with only minor changes in position. My Sweet Piano gets the biggest jump in the top 15, with her Netflix appearance helping her move up 5 places. A few characters made it onto a regional podium including My Melody, Kuromi, Hangyodon, Chococat and U*SA*HA*NA. The weirdest outlier by far is Spain with the extremely obscure kind grandma Umeyazakkaten in third place (she doesn’t even have any merch!), while Thailand once again voted yoshikitty at #1.
There’s an extra vote this year too, to choose a brand new character from the Happilinafriends. Chokochilla won all three categories and this seems to have been an unexpected victory as she wasn’t even included in the initial merch collection. Chokochilla is a friendly chinchilla girl, proud of her fluffy fur and squishy little cheeks, and with strawberry pink ears and tail. She really is adorable so I look forward to seeing more of her soon.
