Did you know we have a free weekly newsletter? You also get a monthly roundup of cute links and videos we’ve saved including character cafes, collabs, crafts and Japan. We’re sharing the links section here on the blog, though subscribers always get them first, plus lots of videos too.

kawaii websites
  • Pokopia is taking over Japan with an incredible Ditto-themed takeover of Tokyo Metro trains & stations, and events at IKEA stores with Pikachu and Snorlax rooms (that unlock in-game rooms), plus a stamp rally and more.
  • Animal Crossing players aren’t left out either as FamilyMart stores in Japan have a new exclusive and limited edition collection of tote bags, lifestyle goods and digital rewards.
  • There’s a very cute new Pompompurin Cafe in Tokyo & Osaka to celebrate the pudding pup’s 30th anniversary with meals, desserts, drinks and exclusive merch.
  • Or how about dining on a kawaii sakura train! Sebastian Masuda of 6%DOKIDOKI has upcycled an express train into the Future Train Diner & Cafe in Kyoto and it’s as pink and kawaii as you’d expect. There’s a special sakura menu until 11th May but sounds like it will still be around after that with a different theme.
  • If you’re heading to Japan, check Cakes with Faces’ guide to Pop-up Theme Cafes in Japan for loads more, updated regularly.
  • There’s a new Miffy menu at Bubble CiTea branches in the UK with 3 drinks to try and some exclusive pins that you can order online too. Miffy’s Hanami Picnic pop-up in London is also still on until the end of May and we shared some pics & videos from Emma & Gabriel’s visits.
  • Hello Kitty & Friends have teamed with the Powerpuff Girls for some adorable plush and merch. One for US fans as I’m not allowed to view everything from the UK but looks like Sanrio, Kidrobot and JC Penney all have exclusives.
  • Looking for something free to make? The latest Free Pattern Friday from Sew Desu Ne? is for Soot Sprite plush, while The Make Arcade is adding a free mini cross stitch pattern every week this year at The Mini Stitch Project.
  • Did you fall for any April Fools? It’s so disappointing when they’re super cute ideas. I want the Usapi Cafe and Teeny Tiny Pipsticks subscriptions to be real 😭
  • The creator of Nyan Cat is still making new versions on Tumblr, including a Moon for Artemis II.
  • U*SA*HA*NA is Friend of the Month at Sanrio – download your free printable calendar and look out for some special content on their YouTube and socials. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite characters in the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking too!
  • New to our blog or not checked in for a while? The Best of Super Cute Kawaii is updated every month and collects our top posts including the most popular, our own favourites and original guides & DIYs.

I love the Suica Penguin and really don’t understand why you would retire such a cute and iconic character but at least JR have made a lovely video looking back at the penguin years.
