New Craft Books To Buy & Preorder

Another round up of cute new books with crafts, recipes and creative ideas to pick up or add to your wish list – some are are out now and others are available to pre-order. I’ve included Amazon links below but you can also order through other sites, like Bookshop (UK/US) which supports independent bookshops near you.

Kiki's Delivery Service recipes

There’s a new addition to the the Ghibli’s Dining Table recipe book collection, this time featuring Kiki’s Delivery Service. It shows you how to make some of the iconic food from the movies including pancakes, chocolate cake and herring pie. The text is in Japanese but the books are aimed at kids so should be easy enough with help from Google Translate. You can pre-order it now from Amazon Japan or it should be added to CDJapan soon too (they both ship worldwide). Out March

Stardew Valley recipes

If you’re more of a gamer, The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook (UK/US) has 50 recipes based on in-game meals and food so you can feel like you’re living inside it. The recipes are themed by the seasons so it should be a good one to dip into throughout the year. Out May

animal pom poms

Pom pom fans will need to pick up Pom Pom Pom Animals (UK/US), the latest book from Henry Le of Pompom Wonderland. These tutorials are for more experienced makers and show you how to make 15 cute and realistic animals with pom poms and needlefelting. They all look so impressive! Out March/August

embroidery patterns

The Modern Embroidery Handbook (UK/US) looks like a must buy for anyone who enjoys hand-stitching. As well as step-by-step instructions for 72 embroidery stitches, there’s a sampler pattern and 20 projects to make. You’ll learn all the stitches and skills you need for any embroidery project and it’s sure to be a book you’ll refer back to regularly for practice and inspiration. Out March/May

If you’re a beginner you might get on better with 30 Day Challenge: Embroidery (UK/US) which will help you learn to stitch over the course of a month. Every day you’ll get a new stitch to learn and a simple embroidery design to try it out. By the end of the month, you’ll know 30 different stitches and be able to use them together to make all kinds of designs. Out now

Crocheters who love animals will find it hard to resist Peter Panda and Pals (UK/US) from Sweet Amigurumi Design. There’s 10 amigurumi patterns inside and all the animals are all so adorable with their individual personalities and cute accessories. Out March/April

Or French designer Lulu Compotine has a new book of Lulu’s Crochet Dolls (UK/US) with 8 adorable dolls and accessories to crochet. There’s patterns for all seasons and lots of customisation options so it would be lovely for making gifts. Out February/March

hand lettering books

Hand lettering is useful for all kinds of creative activities, like journaling and graphic design and The Art of Playful Lettering (UK/US) will help you learn how to do it. The book teaches you general lettering styles and how to make them more fun with variations and embellishments. There’s also worksheets for practice and full alphabets to use. Out February

latte art tutorials

And something a bit different to end on – a book on latte art! Coffee Art Masterclass (UK/US) has 50 designs that you can use to impress your friends and are apparently simple to learn without the need of special equipment. If you’re a coffee lover, this could give you a whole new hobby. Out now
