Maison Ghibli (EU) have a huge collection of beautiful tableware themed around many different Studio Ghibli movies but surely there’s no character more elegant than the Baron from The Cat Returns? The cup, plate and spoon are available individually, and there’s even a chopstick rest shaped like the fish cookies.
If you’re more of a Disney fan, this Marie tea set is very fancy and made of porcelain with gold details. Choose from a cup & saucer, teapot and side plate at VeryGoods (JP).
Let’s face it, the desserts are the most fun part of a character cafe visit and even a simple bowl of ice cream or a fruit juice will feel special in these pretty Eevee glassware pieces from the Pokémon Fleur de Coquelicot collection at Meccha Japan (JP). There’s also a matching plate and tray.
If you’re prone to breaking things, or like to eat outdoors a lot, Sanrio (US) have you covered with this colourful Retro Tableware collection that’s made of acrylic. There’s 4 cute sets featuring Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, My Melody & Pochaccho.
The Rilakkuma Cafes in Japan aren’t as OTT kawaii as some character cafes but have a lovely natural style with healthier, seasonal food. Serve up dinner in this super cute Pusheen ramen bowl at The Pusheen Shop (US), which has space to rest your chopsticks. You don’t have to only use it for ramen though – it would work just as well with pasta, soup or even cereal. BoxLunch (US) also have similar bowls with many more characters including Ghibli, Sanrio & Disney.
It’s the little details that make a character cafe so special and some Fuku Fuku Nyanko cat-shaped ice cubes would impress any cat lover. The ice tray is available from HAPiNS (JP – requires forwarding service) , along with a cat head version and those glasses too.
