Sending surprises in the post is one of my favourite hobbies and it’s entirely possible that I started an online shop so I’d have an excuse to buy cute packaging. If you also love sending happy mail, here’s some of the most cute and unique stationery and supplies I could find.

I’m kind of obsessed with the fold and send letter sets at Paperchase (UK) and can’t resist adding new designs to my stash. They’re so useful for small notes as you get multiple designs and matching stickers to seal them. I’m pretty sure I need this pets ones – look at the turtle!

Mochi Things (US) have lots of cute and colourful stationery sets for writing letters but for a very unique format, how about these Rolled Up Letter Sets? Each sheet is patterned on one side and lined on the other, with paper rings to keep them rolled up, and matching tags too.

As a big Rilakkuma fan, these post-themed sticker sheets at Cuteness (EU) are high on my wish list. Although they’d definitely disappear into the hoard, never to be used! You get both sheets in the set and there’s a Sumikko Gurashi version too.

Speaking of Sumikko Gurashi, they can help keep your packages sealed up in kawaii style with rolls of gum tape. This is the sort that you use with water and can be recycled along with the box. It’s exclusive to the San-X Shop (JP – requires forwarding service).

I’m also seeing more and more cute designs on paper tape, which is stronger, wider and stickier than washi tape but still recyclable. Nutmeg & Arlo (UK) even have full colour designs including these rainbows.

Or add a little glitter with this adorable Mailtime washi tape by Helen Bucher (EU)! All the little designs and icons would be perfect for cutting out and sticking on letters.

The mail service is still struggling a bit but these Snail Mail printable planner stickers by HappyBeesUK are here to remind you that good things are worth waiting for. And since it’s a printable file, you can make as many as you like.

Cat lovers can keep their post on theme with a Cat Mail rubber stamp by Megumi Hori at Cute Things From Japan (JP) – and there’s some matching sticker sheets too.
For DIY letters, origami is always a good option. I used this surprisingly easy Cat and Bear DIY paper envelope tutorial by Hello Origami for Mother’s Day recently and popped a tiny fold and send letter inside.

Make your own envelopes from any kind of paper with an envelope template. You can print off templates online – The Spruce Crafts has a great guide with lots of sizes. Or this Kuretake brand template at japanhappytime (JP) will last longer and has 4 sizes.
If you love happy mail, I do a surprise mail swap. Send me something and I’ll send you something back.
