Simple & Cute Home Decor Ideas

Posted on September 14, 2021 by

My home is a mix between minimalism and cute. This is because I easily get overwhelmed by visual clutter, but at the same time I do enjoy kawaii decorations. I’d like to show you what kind of cute items I usually bring into my home.

kawaii burger plush

I’m a bit of a couch potato and love to have soft pillows and blankets at hand. I have some soft plushies on the couch that can double up as pillows, such as this Hamburger plush from Hema (EU) and large Squishables (US). You can also easily change the look of regular pillows by making new covers for them, for instance with kawaii Spoonflower fabrics.

kawaii glasses

My kitchen items – especially the mugs, glasses and containers – come with soft pastel colours and cute designs. Local shops and thrift stores are usually a good place to search for this kind of cute kitchenware. And if you are looking for kitchen items with character prints, I can advise ARTBOX (UK) and Sanrio (US).

kawaii planters

At SCK we are fans of kawaii planters, so you can find lots of inspiration from our previous planter posts. The pictured plant pot is a dog planter from Sass and Belle (UK) which is available at various online shops, such as It’s A Present (EU). You can also upcycle thrifted planters by drawing faces on them with ceramic markers.

Momiji dolls

Vinyl toys or vintage toys are also a great way to add a touch of cute to your home. Pastel coloured toys, such as Momiji dolls (UK) and Puckie Babies (EU), go easy on the eyes.

kawaii art prints

Art prints are a nice and simple way to brighten up your cabinets or walls. Etsy and Society6 are good places to look for kawaii prints, for example this Bunny print from Lazysunjei (EU). We also have guides to buying art prints and original art works.

couch potato light

I love to have some cute lights around, since you can enjoy them throughout the day. This Tayto Couch Potato Light from Smoko (US) will certainly brighten up your room.
