Looking for a cute new mobile game? Try Rilakkuma Farm where the gang try farming in super cute style!
I was hoping Rilakkuma Farm (Apple / Android) would get an English translation but didn’t notice this had happened until a couple of weeks ago. I installed it straight away and immediately got obsessed. There’s nothing too special about it but it’s extremely cute. If you love Rilakkuma, you need to give it a go.
The story is that Rilakkuma and pals find an abandoned farm with a note making them the new owners. Rilakkuma is mostly in it for the snacks but they have Kiiroitori to work hard! I’ve not played many farming games but it’s all very familiar: you plant crops, feed your animals, turn the ingredients into drinks and sweets and sell on your product to local businesses. You also unlock new areas, characters and decorations so you can customise your farm.
It’s a free game that tries to get you to pay up by setting wait times while crops grow, new challenges appear etc. If you’re patient you don’t need to pay anything – just check in on your farm for a few minutes every hour or two. The first few levels feel like a real slog but you soon unlock so many things that it’s a juggle to keep everything going. It’s also a bit repetitive. Each time you open a new shop, the gang have exactly the same conversation, and you get the same decorations over and over: who needs 50 benches?
Mostly I love it for the cute graphics – Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma and Kiiroitori wander around watering crops, having a rest and interacting with the decorations. You can also unlock Kogumachan by opening up new ground with a honey tree. The food items are all adorable too with Rilakkuma-themed puddings, pastries and drinks.
Rilakkuma Farm isn’t going to be something you play for months but I’m glad to have a cute distraction while I wait for Animal Crossing New Horizons! It’s a free download for Apple and Android – get it from the App Store or Google Play.
