I was putting together some summer food videos for a post and realised I had both a craft tutorial and a real life edible version of the same things. So whether you prefer crafting or eating, here’s some easy DIYs for bubble tea, shaved ice and rainbow cake.
Kaila’s boyfriend Aki made a great video for her Rainbowholic channel showing how to make rainbow tapioca for bubble tea. It’s actually a lot easier than I imagined, you just need some patience.
For an easier version, kamikey show you how to make origami bubble tea. I love how customisable this is and it would be so cute for happy mail to a friend.
This animal shaved ice DIY by PolymomoTea is so adorable – you can make a bunny, elephant, frog and duck from polymer clay and resin.
You could try to recreate these as edible versions using Jenna Templeton’s shaved ice tutorial as a base. You’d just need some food colouring plus candy or squeezable chocolate icing for the faces.
If you’re planning a summer party, this rainbow stripe cereal cake by Kawaii Sweet World is a bit of a showstopper. It’s made with Froot Loops cereal for a fruity taste and I love that the rainbow is on the outside.
For a longer lasting cake, make one from polymer clay with this rainbow cake slice tutorial by SweetMiniDollHouse. If you’re new to clay crafts this one looks super easy but very effective.
Which do you prefer? The real life recipes or the crafty versions?
