I’ve been a fan of the cute characters at Tasty Peach Studios for a while now but have never actually bought anything. I especially love the Meowchi mochi cats plushies and when the limited edition Bumblebee Meowchi was announced, I got myself right in line and picked one up the second they were available.
After an agonising wait, he turned up a few weeks ago and I have lots of photos to share.
This is what I saw when I opened the parcel! I love that attention to detail that makes it exciting from the first second. The actual packaging wasn’t that exciting, but it held up fine to international shipping and everything was perfect.
I also ordered a Chirii Balloon Bunny tee, so let’s have a look at that first. It’s a good quality t-shirt in a cute lavender colour with an adorable print that feels soft and not thick and plasticky. I ordered a large as that matched other t-shirts I’ve ordered from the US and it fits me perfectly, so much so that I’ve been waiting for a special occasion to wear it in case it shrinks in the wash. I might recommend ordering up a size unless you have one in the same brand (American Apparel).
On to Meowchi! I am so happy with this plush. I couldn’t really visualise what size it was before ordering but it’s perfect – big enough to hug but small enough that it doesn’t take up too much space. The first run came with a cute illustrated tag and it all feels very professional and high quality. The embroidered face and other details are all perfect and the minky fabric is so soft and cuddly. There are even some beans in the bottom so he stays upright.
Here’s a back view with fabric tag, stinger and those cute little wings. The embroidery there is a nice little touch. It’s definitely worth the $25 price tag. I’m really glad I bought it and he’s been hanging out on my couch ever since he arrived.
The Bumblebee Meowchis are currently sold out, but there will be a second batch later in the year. Up for pre-order just now are Reindeer and Candy Corn Meowchis, plus a cheaper range of coloured Meowchis. Keep an eye on the Plush section of the shop or on Facebook for updates.
Check back tomorrow for an interview with Tasty Peach owner and designer Ryan.
