U*SA*HA*NA is Sanrio’s Friend of the Month for April and it made me realise we’ve never shared a full post on the colourful pastel bunny who lives on an island in the sea and loves summer and sunflowers. With a debut in 2000, U*SA*HA*NA is one of Sanrio’s newer characters but never quite took off so it’s nice to see her getting a little bit of the spotlight and I’ve found some cute things to buy and make. PS. If you want to see more, you usually need to search for Usahana as her formatted name breaks code!)

Build-A-Bear (global) just released a very sweet new U*SA*HA*NA plush with an optional rainbow print dress to add even more colour. You can also mix and match outfits with other Sanrio characters.

Plaza Japan (JP) have a big range of items to choose from, including plush, bags and accessories. The keychains are hard to resist with some really fun colourful designs.

U*SA*HA*NA is the perfect character for sunny days and Sanrio (US) have a nice selection of tees & hats including these reversible bucket hats that will keep you cool. They’re available in 2 sizes too.

If you’re still feeling the chill, JapanLA (US) has an adorable 2-Way Cape Blanket that you can use on your lap or buttoned around your shoulders. It also folds up into a cute pillow when not in use.
If you’d like to try decoden, the official Hello Kitty and Friends channel has a tutorial for a DIY U*SA*HA*NA Compact Mirror with lots of summer flowers. There’s a template included for the character, which is made with shrink paper.
Origami is a little easier, and Hey yan po! Gurashi has a step by step U*SA*HA*NA tutorial that also includes clothing and accessories to add on top.

Or make her in yarn with Amigurumei’s super cute crochet pattern. It’s available through her Patreon, along with patterns for many more Sanrio and Ghibli characters.
If you’re an U*SA*HA*NA fan, don’t forget to vote in the Sanrio Character Ranking to give her a boost.
