There’s still time to make something for Halloween and most of these DIYs, patterns and printables can be started straight away. Why not plan a crafty weekend with sweet treats and a few scary movies?
The Amigurumi School of Magic is back for a sixth edition with another array of super cute crochet patterns. It runs for the whole of October with a new batch of patterns every week so you’ll have a bit of catching up to do if you want to make everything. You can just make a few of the smaller things though and work on more for next year. I’d definitely start with the little fire with log legs!
If you prefer sewing, What A Curly Life have a set of Spooky Boo Friends with a cute bat, ghost and ghost cat. I love the little garlands! The digital downloads include step by step illustrated tutorials and full size pattern pieces or you can also buy a full kit.
Oh Sew Bootiful (UK) have a fun Happy Halloween embroidery pattern full of spooky motifs. It’s designed as a daily project to help you practice 8 different stitches but it’s easy enough that you can complete it more quickly. While they do have digital downloads available, this pattern is not currently included but you can order a printed fabric pattern or full kit.
These Quick No-Sew Fabric Pumpkins are a great alternative to jack-o-lanterns if you don’t have the time for carving. Spoonflower have both a written tutorial and video to follow and you can use any fabric to match your style or decor – including thousands of kawaii Halloween fabric designs from Spoonflower artists (US).
Make trick or treating extra cute with these origami Halloween pumpkin bags from Kamikey. You can fold these from any size or paper type so try something strong for a large bag or make some mini ones for treat bags or decorations. Kamikey also has a very cute new Halloween wreath decoration.
Tatsukuri Origami has a few different Halloween origami tutorials including cute pumpkins and ghosts. I love these origami skulls with mouths that slide open for a little message. They’d be a great creepy cute option for a boo basket.
If you prefer printables, Ines The Unicorn has 3 print and cut Halloween garlands with vintage-style Spooky Ghosties, Merry Kitties and Dancing Pumpkins. They even come with a black & white version you can colour yourself. I don’t know how you could pick a favourite but luckily they’re affordable enough to just buy them all.
I haven’t checked the Silhouette Design Store for a long time and was delighted to see La La Shiba have a whole load of amazing new printable paper crafts. They’re designed for a Silhouette (or Cricut) paper cutting machine but you can make them by hand if you don’t mind doing the cutting and scoring yourself. These ghost house and hotel boxes would be great for gifts but I’d use them as decorations. There’s also pumpkin trucks, lunch boxes, bookmarks and stickers.
If those all look like a bit too much effort, Wren & Wilson (UK) have a Spooky Movie Colouring Book for adults. There’s 14 different illustrated movie pages to colour in from Ghostbusters to Gremlins – and you can also add a matching sticker sheet.
