It’s another edition of SCK Tries where we try out a DIY and see how it works in real life. This time I’m trying a felt fortune cookie catnip cat toy. I thought my cats would enjoy a felt toy after they stole pieces of the felt dino I made this summer!
The Original DIY

I chose this fortune cookie cat toy tutorial from Dandelions & Lace because I liked the idea of individualizing the fortune that sticks out the side of the cookie. I also adore cute play food.
Materials & Process

The tutorial only requires a few materials: felt, stuffing, your preferred sewing method, and catnip. I used leftover felt from the felt dino, which happened to be the perfect color for my fortune cookie.

I found the tutorial directions very easy to follow. I didn’t have any stuffing, so I used bubble wrap to stuff my cookie. This worked out well, as it made a fun crunchy noise for the cats. I also don’t know how to use a sewing machine, so I hand stitched my cookie. Even with hand stitching, it took me less than an hour to make.
The End Result

The catnip toy was an instant hit with our cats, and Evey and Adora had a hard time taking turns with it.

Definitely an easy treat for the kitties in your home or gift for your favorite cat lover. You could easily personalize it by putting the kitty’s name on the fortune paper.

May this DIY bring good fortune to your feline friends!
