Give yourself a little treat or surprise a friend with one of these kawaii blind boxes filled with plush, vinyl figures and gachapon to collect and display. I’ve restricted myself to one pick per shop but they all have lots more to choose from.
We always have to start with tokidoki and it was super hard to pick a favourite from all the new releases. The Pixie Dust Fairy Unicornos are so pretty with pastel colours, shimmering wings, glow in the dark touches and adorable accessories. If you’re feeling spooky, there’s some fun designs for Halloween too.
Momiji (global) are back with a new Sugar Plum Wood collection for preorder that includes both vinyl figures and mini plush blind boxes – and a big bunny plush too. All the designs have a woodland theme including a fox, owl, deer, frog, toadstool and more.
Miffy has been getting into blind boxes lately and there’s a whole series of mini plush from VIPO with fun themes like bakery, mini bags and raincoats. I especially love the Halloween plush and these would all make the cutest decorations. X-Playground (AU) has all the boxes in stock but you can shop around for other countries. They’re also available from the Miffy Shop in London – hopefully they’ll add them online too.
Smoko (US) regularly release new blind boxes with both their own original characters and collabs like Kewpie. While the Halloween and glow in the dark designs are hard to resist, I have to go for these Smoko Friends Sticky Pals that you can attach to just about anything to make your desk, phone or notebook more kawaii.
I was happily surprised to discover Squishable (US) have added a range of blind boxes with micro-plush keychains that are just as cute as the big ones. Sparkle the Narwhal comes in both mystical and snack themes and you’ll also find their signature characters like Plague Doctor and Mothman, plus cats, dogs and worms.
Otonagai (US) is a new sister shop to Whatever! Make You Happy that’s all about mystery collectibles. Rather than character collabs, these are all original designs like the Cryptids, Hedgehugz and Gnibble Gnomes. My favourite is definitely the creepy cute Nightmeows cats, though I’d hope not to get the scary clown.
Oshoppu (UK) have so many gachapon capsule toys and I never get tired of browsing through them as there’s a whole range from adorable to deeply weird. These colourful miniature Animal Ice Cream Vending Machines are firmly on the cute side and really work! Just press the button for a tiny animal-shaped ice cream.
Tofu Cute (UK) also have a great selection and as someone who loves miniatures like Re-Ment, I can’t get over the Puchi Puchi Forest keychains. The little animal toys are in teeny-tiny detailed packaging and there’s also an apple house and yellow bus.
