Identity Flag Recipes to Celebrate Pride Month

by

In June, we officially celebrate Pride Month, but that’s not to say you can’t celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community the whole year round. I’ve collected a colourful variety of recipes reflecting some of the different flags, from the all-inclusive rainbow to some of the individual group flags too. If you’re organising a Pride party or event this month, then these could be perfect for sharing, but equally they’re great for celebrating yourself or your friends throughout the year too.

progress flag rainbow layer cake

The way this Good Food rainbow layer cake is iced means that it’s similar in colours to the progress flag, which includes the trans colours. You could also take this idea and use it to create an iced cake in another flag of your choice, just by changing out the icing colours.

trans flag cake recipe

Chelsweets has done just this and has made a trans flag cake. Not only is the icing using the colours, but the layer cake inside is made up of the 5 stripes of the transgender flag.

If you’re wanting to make something to share with multiple people or hand out at an event, then cupcakes are always a good option. Panko Bunny has made a series of iced cupcakes in 12 of the flag designs and then more recently updated the collection with these vibrant ones inspired by the lesbian flag.

Bi Birthday Cake Checkerboard cookies

Lav Bakes on TikTok makes incredible flag designed bakes all year long, including some incredible layered marshmallows. One of the only flag recipes written separately however are these Bi Birthday Cake Checkerboard cookies, with little bisexual flags all over them. If you did want to try your hand at making the layered flag marshmallows, you could follow one of the recipes on the blog, but just change up the colours to ones of your choice.

vegan rainbow dot cupcakes

If you’ve seen the trending dot cakes from New York on social media, you’ll know why these recipes are popping up all over the place. However with the use of different coloured sprinkles, you could create the famous dot cake with specific flag colours. This cupcake version from Little Blog of Vegan uses the classic rainbow sprinkles, but I think using this as design inspiration for other flags could be a fun idea.

Pies & Tacos has a hand painted macaron recipe in honour of Pride which are super vibrant and perfect to share, but on Instagram, she’s showcased her galaxy macarons, but utilising different flag colours. So far she’s done transgender, lesbian, and bisexual colours and they look so beautiful.

pride flag cookies recipe

I love these little pride flag cookies by Ballerina Baker. The colours really pop and the flavour is orange giving these sugar cookies a zesty kick. It’s even recommended that you change up the layers in different colours to create the flag of your choice too.
