2026 is the 30th anniversary of the first Tamagotchi digital pet and they’re still going strong. These shopping picks and free crafts are sure to make OG fans very nostalgic and are super fun for newer fans too.

I never had a real Tamagotchi but it’s not too late to join in as there are new designs being released all the time, including an anniversary re-release of the original 1996 designs, limited editions and collabs. The official Tamagotchi website has all the info and you can find the basic ones at Amazon and local toy stores, while sites like Japan Trend Shop (JP) and Meccha Japan (JP) have rarer designs and preorders.

These blind box keychain charms at My Plastic Heart (US) are perfect for adding to zippers, bag loops and keyrings for an extra touch of cute. The mini Tamagotchi devices have so much detail and the characters are translucent too.

My personal obsession was the Corner Shop games on the Nintendo DS and these plush keychains at Meccha Japan (JP) are a hilarious reminder of one of the most ridiculous “shops”, the makeup dentist. Where is sushi bowling though?

JetPens (US) have some incredible Tamagotchi stationery to choose from, including this year’s journaling collab with Hobonichi and the full series of Bonbon Drop stickers, one of the biggest names driving Japan’s current sticker collecting mania.

Over at YesStyle (HK), you’ll find Tamagotchi beauty products in the cutest packaging including face masks, nail art, eyebrow mascara and these lip & blush sets with customisable screen stickers.

There are a lot of cute crochet patterns for cases to keep your device safe and this red panda Tamagotchi case by Once Upon A Cheerio is especially fun. It’s inspired by Mei of Turning Red, who has a Tamagotchi on her bag.
You can even make a whole Tamagotchi from yarn with Atelier Delilah’s amigurumi crochet pattern for a keychain. As well as the video there’s a full written pattern on their blog.
おもちゃ箱 (origami.omotyabako) is currently releasing a new Tamagotchi origami tutorial every week, with a mix of popular devices and characters appearing so far. Most need some drawing skills but the handmade style is very cute so you don’t need to be perfect.

Since the Tamagotchi characters started out as pixels, they’re easy to recreate in lots of crafts. Mes Perles à Repasser has 3 free designs for perler beads, devout Hand has graph patterns for all the Tamagotchi sprites from Version 3 for graph knitting/crochet, and Sprite Stitch has the original Tamagotchi sprites. They’d all work for cross stitch, and other grid-based crafts, too.
