- There’s a real-life Animal Crossing village near Tokyo that you can visit until 20th July! Tokyu Resort Town Tateshina has added lots of cute theming so you can go fishing with CJ, watch KK Slider perform and grab a coffee at The Roost. Tokyo Weekender has all the details in English.
- The Grand Hyatt Tokyo hotel is celebrating Pokemon’s 30th anniversary with 2 special rooms to stay in, plus Pokémon-inspired menus, from now until the end of August. The rooms look amazing and one has 30 Pikachus to keep you company.
- Sanrio’s ‘Beginning of Kawaii’ exhibition returns to Tokyo in its final version until 21st June. You can learn about their 60-year history and enjoy themed food in the restaurant. SoraNews24 has lots of photos if you can’t visit.
- Continental Europe doesn’t get a lot of character cafes but if you’re in Paris, the baguett bakery has a Hello Kitty & Friends event running just now with macarons, cakes and merch. You can see it all in this video.

- The Guardian has a really nice article about trinket swap boxes that includes a link to The Worldwide Sidewalk Joy Map, for all kinds of free exchanges and galleries. Well worth bookmarking for your travels, as well as checking your local area.
- If you got sucked back into Animal Crossing New Horizons, crossingdesigns is back on tumblr sharing lots of cute custom designs for clothing, paths, decor etc.
- The Make Arcade is adding a free mini cross stitch pattern every week this year at The Mini Stitch Project.
- My Sweet Piano is Friend of the Month at Sanrio – download your free printable calendar and look out for some special content on their YouTube and socials. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite characters in the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking too!
- New to our blog or not checked in for a while? The Best of Super Cute Kawaii is updated every month and collects our top posts including the most popular, our own favourites and original guides & DIYs.
The Rilakkuma anime is up to 5 episodes now, which you can watch on the San-X channel (scroll right to the bottom). They’re only in Japanese at the moment but easy to follow as they’re all based on well-known stories. What will Rilakkuma find in the scary castle? (Weirdly, this episode has disappeared since Sunday so start at the beginning!)
Mochimochi Land’s knitted Woolly Woolly animation series is now available to watch on YouTube too! It’s based on her knitted toys and all the backgrounds are knitted too.
