It’s that time again! The 2022 Sanrio Character Ranking site is open for voting now to find out which characters are the favourites.
This year’s theme is Smile and Make the World More Colorful! and I really love the illustration style. Once again, there are 80 Sanrio characters to vote for, including all the big names and lots of more obscure characters too.
Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin and Pochaccho all held on to the top spots worldwide last year so it would be great to see a change. Pompompurin had a very near miss at #1 and is getting a lot of promotion this month – including the 3D billboard at Shinjuku – so I have some hope for my personal fave. It’s always interesting to see how different the regional voting is too.
Sanrio Japan (requires forwarding service) have also released some new products to celebrate and it’s nice to see some less well known characters as plush, finger puppets, stationery and more..
You can vote every day until the 23rd of May and they’ll be releasing regular updates on how the voting is going on the special Twitter account. The winner will be announced in June and we’ll share some picks with the top characters again then.
