Cute & Cosy Winter Knitwear To Buy & DIY

Posted on

It’s freezing here in Scotland and I’ve got all my warm jumpers out, and a woolly hat, scarf and gloves ready for when I venture outside. If you’re feeling the cold too, here’s how to stay cute and cosy with kawaii winter knitwear, including a few DIY options.

Hello Kitty knitwear

Streetwear fashion brand Dumbgood (US) has teamed up with Sanrio for a Hello Kitty knitwear collection that’s berry sweet with lots of strawberries. The cardigan is adorable but there’s also shorts, socks and more. US shipping only but Sanrio (US) have some items and ship to Canada too.

Hello Kitty Christmas sweater

For a glam take on the ugly Christmas jumper, Unique Vintage (UK) have a really cute Hello Kitty Fair Isle sweater that’s available in sizes up to 5X. Or chill out in the matching leggings! Sanrio (US) have these in stock too.

Pokemon knitwear

The Festive Winter collection is selling out fast at the Pokemon Center (US) but there’s still some cute jumpers, hats, headbands and touchscreen gloves to choose from. The Galarian Ponyta set is especially kawaii.

kawaii gloves

The always incredible Aranzi Aronzo (JP) have designed 3 sets of gloves with their characters, where the fingers make the design interactive as ears, arms or a mouth! You’ll be able to entertain everyone while waiting for the bus. Their international store is temporarily closed but you can use a forwarding service.

Ghibli Totoro poncho

Hot Topic (US) are stocking some extremely cosy looking sherpa-lined wearables with kawaii characters including Studio Ghibli and Disney. The Totoro poncho is especially sweet but there’s also oversized cardigans and slippers.

kawaii cats scarf

Show off your love of cats with a cats, moon and stars knitted scarf from I Like Cats (UK). These are limited edition so don’t wait too long if you want one.

kawaii bow scarf

Or make a sweet statement with this 2-way ribbon stole from Liz Liza (JP). You can wear it like a normal scarf or with a big bow on front.

miffy crochet patterns

If you’d like to make something yourself, Stitch & Story (UK) is a good site to browse for both knitting and crochet – their kits include a Hello Kitty knitted hat for adults and this very cute crochet Miffy bag, that are both suitable for advanced beginners. There’s also some colourful scarf patterns and freebies.

DIY kawaii crochet beret

There’s plenty cute patterns on Etsy and I’d love to try HELLOhappy’s crochet patterns, which include a froggy beret, cat ears bucket hat, bear gloves and llama scarf!

Knitting isn’t that difficult to learn and once you know one basic stitch you can keep at it until you have a scarf. Pick a chunky rainbow coloured yarn and it will be quick and look like you know how to do stripes or patterns! There’s loads of tutorials online but this one by Sweetie Sprout looks nice and clear and doesn’t go too fast.

DIY pom pom hat

If you can’t manage that (or have dodgy wrists like me!), The Neon Tea Party shows you how to make a colourful pom pom and attach it to any boring beanie.

Hope you’re feeling a bit warmer after reading this!
