With Moomin Day on the 9th of August almost upon us, I’ve noticed a few different Moomin collaborations popping up to help us celebrate the most wonderful of Finnish characters.
Bird & Blend Tea (UK) have a tea and matcha Moomin collection featuring one black tea and one matcha blend. The matcha blend is just 30% matcha mixed with beetroot powder, spirulina and flavourings, giving the name of ‘Berry Basket’ which conjures up images of the Moomintrolls out foraging for berries. However, my pick might have to be the black tea called ‘Cosy Comfort’ because it comes in a tin that looks like the Moominhouse complete with a red roof lid and has flavours that would make you think of Moominmamma baking cinnamon rolls. While this does make me think of colder days, they suggest using it as a cold-brewed tea in summer, which sounds like a fantastic idea in this heat.
SCK is no stranger to Rolife’s (global) buildable wooden kits, as we’ve built many over the last few years. As you can imagine, we were thrilled to see that they had collaborated with Moomin to give three separate scenes – a garden party, a forest camp (with Moomin fishing by the river), and a cross section of the Moominhouse. Lush (global) aren’t releasing their Moomin collaboration for another few days, but you can check out the collection in advance. I love the look of the Snufkin shower gummy, which will apparently stick to your tiles or side of your bath between washes for the perfect plastic free alternative to shower gel, and the Little My soap (she looks very mischievous).
UK-based Cupp are a bubble tea brand with stores across the country and they’ve teamed up with Moomin to bring a collection of boba kits so that you can create your own bubble tea at home! They provide enough tea syrup, boba pearls and straws for three drinks and come in two flavours – peach fruit tea and taro milk.
As an added extra, Moomin Arabia celebrates a day early on the 8th of August with the release of an autumnal themed mug ready for the new season. Funnily enough, the design is based on the comic strip ‘Moomin’s Winter Follies’, but the colour scheme definitely suggests autumn rather than winter… either way, it’s perfect for the ‘Cosy Comfort’ tea from Bird & Blend!
