Holiday breaks are coming up fast so if you’ve got some extra time on your hands, are planning a crafty get-together or need a last minute gift, most of these DIYs, patterns and printables can be started straight away.
I’m so in love with this DIY Winter Snowman by Tiny Craft World, I thought it was made from pompoms at first but it’s a plushie, sewn with very fluffy fabric. The yarn hat and felt carrot nose are very clever too. You could change up the colours to be more Christmassy or save it to make any time this winter.
The Amigurumi Advent is in full swing with a new set of super cute crochet patterns. There’s a new pattern every day and it’s all winter/Arctic themed so no need to rush in time for Christmas. The main item is a snowglobe that you can use as a stage to arrange the smaller items into cute displays. There’s lots of cute animals and you can see everything so far on their Instagram.
Mini Crochet Zoo also have a set of advent crochet patterns with a mix of cute decorations, tree ornaments and gift tags that are easy to customise. You can buy the full set or many are available as individual patterns.
If you prefer sewing, What A Curly Life has a set of free felt sewing patterns for advent ornaments. The bobble hat would work really well as a personalised gift tag/topper but don’t miss the cute hedgehog either.
Vivid Stitch Shop has some lovely embroidery patterns for Christmas (I’ve bought a couple myself but haven’t made them yet – they look great though) including snowflakes, an advent hoop and this Christmas tree sampler. If you don’t have time to make the whole thing, you could pick out a few favourites for a smaller hoop or decoration.
Or how about this Festive Sampler cross stitch pattern from Stitchrovia? I love the modern graphic style and it’s also perfect for pulling out a few smaller blocks or elements to finish more quickly. There’s loads more Christmas patterns to choose from too.
Fabric & quilt designer Lizzy House has designed a very cute Peep Boot stocking pattern that you can sew up from any fabric. It’s such a nice petite size so you don’t have to try and fill a massive stocking. If you’re in the US, check out the rest of her shop for festive fabric panels to sew larger stockings, plus lots of cute holiday gifts.
On to paper crafts and Hello Origami has lots of fun and quick Christmas projects to try, I really want to have a go at these jumping Christmas trees which I think would be great for keeping everyone entertained at the dinner table. There’s also a very cute stand-up snowman and lots of gift wrapping ideas.
If it’s gift boxes you need, La La Shiba have some adorable ones in the shape of Christmas shops and vans, plus little advent boxes. The files are designed for Silhouette/Cricut machines but you can make them by hand if you don’t mind doing the cutting and scoring yourself. There’s also a Youtube channel to help you with the building,
We had a big post on Christmas cookies yesterday but these Christmas Stars from Natalia Campbell would also be great inspiration for polymer clay ornaments. You could even use my Animal Crossing cookie tutorials to make something similar with felt or card.
