It’s been a while since we caught up with the San-X characters so here’s some new themes, products and more from Rilakkuma, Sumikko Gurashi and friends. Ordering information and international stockists are at the end of the post.
It’s good to see some side characters getting the spotlight in September. Korilakkuma is making friends with three cats who have a sweet scent – Strawberry Cat, Vanilla Cat and Cocoa Cat. I especially love Cocoa Cat who looks like Kogumachan!
There’s lots of cute products of course with many plushies to choose from, along with stationery, bags and hair accessories. The collection will be available to buy from September 3rd, but you can download free wallpapers while you wait.
Ebifurai No Shippo and Aji Furai No Shippo have opened a Shippo Diner for all their Sumikko Gurashi friends. If you’d like to turn your home into a character cafe, there are some very kawaii drinking glasses and plate, along with bags, plush and a plush diner set.
We don’t feature Sentimental Circus very often but they are still releasing new products and if you’re a fan of tarot, horoscopes etc, you’ll love the new Spica’s Fortune-telling Black Cat collection. It has lots of plush of course, plus bags and accessories.
If you’re looking for a new character to love, San-X currently have a character poll open to choose your favourite from these 4 cuties. They’re each available on a file folder and it sounds like the top choice will get some more products.
And if you’re already excited about the upcoming holidays, the special limited edition Rilakkuma & Sumikko Gurashi Christmas plush sets are available for pre-order for a few more days, while the regular Halloween plush will be part of the September release. I need a bat Obake!
Where To Buy San-X
If there’s anything you can’t miss out on, then you’ll need to set an alarm and be ready to buy from the San-X Japan site – you can browse all the September products in advance and check the release time. It requires a forwarding service (see our guide) as some items will likely sell out immediately. Otherwise, you can find most items on VeryGoods (JP) around the launch date. Some will also turn up later at international stockists like ARTBOX (UK), Cuteness (EU) and Kawaii Panda (EU). I’ve not been able to find a US-based site that consistently stocks new San-X releases – leave a comment if you can recommend one.
