Lou Lou & Oscar’s Kawaii Favourites

Posted on August 12, 2009 by

Hello kittens, Lisa of Lou Lou & Oscar here. I have fled the shadowy realm of Fish Boys and owl taming cats I usually inhabit to share some super cute kawaii objects with you. I do hope that there will be something here to make your tummy turn somersaults and your heart flip. Let’s live cutely and support handmade; some nourishment with your sugar.

Sonja Ahlers re-purposes angora jumpers and re-makes them into the softest, sweetest, most delicate bunnies you have ever seen. These darlings look as if they have been dipped into fluffy clouds or a basket of kittens. ‘Baby Blue’ is especially delightful, you can request a range of accessories for her if you want to elevate the cute factor even further. Tiny things are cute right?

Lola Goldstein

I am so in love with the creations of Lola Goldstein. Lola makes ‘mascots’ and ‘useful things’ from white earthenware clay which is then hand painted and finished. Kawaii, Zakka, cute, really this work is beyond classification. I would own every single piece if I could.

Ok, I confess that I am bending the rules on this pick. Ragpets aren’t available to buy just yet, but they should be coming soon. Let’s all lobby Eerika to get a shop open! I lost my heart to a Ragpet some time ago and my passion has not diminished. Just look at those little critters, such sartorial elegance and did I mention that they have the cutest belly buttons imaginable? I am going to commission a Ragpet of my very own one of these days.

I am in awe of Mai, a maker of beautiful things from Japan. Mai has an Etsy shop named Siesta where you will find fresh, crisp zakka and teeny tiny kawaii delights. Everything is hand-stitched with so much love and obvious care. I aspire to make work of this simplicity and perfection. The ‘Sloth Around Your Wrist’ cuff would cheer anyone up on the grimmest of days. Just lovely.

From the sublime to well…Yummy Donuts! Huge, yummy, plush donuts by Heidi Kenney. Choose from 12 or 24 inches, what would you do with yours? Apparently singer Katy Perry uses a Yummy Donut as a paparazzi shield. Available from Kidrobot.
