Sugar Bunny Shop

Posted: January 29th, 2010, by mar-c

Oh my, how much do I love the Sugar Bunny Shop? And how much do I really really want that bag? The answer of course, is A LOT. There’s nothing I like better than cute bunnies, except maybe cute bunny ice cream desserts. Or cupcake kitty hats! Or, oh, here,  just take all my money.

With kawaii charms, jewellery, hats, tshirts, badges, stickers, plush toys and more, it’s a hard choice what to buy. Even more so, when you remember that they also have a CafePress store which has lots of adorable things featuring the Puddle Bunnies. Blub!

Papa Totoro

Posted: January 28th, 2010, by mar-c

Papa Totoro is another new Etsy shop that I stumbled upon recently. With a name like that, it has to be cute, but it’s an extra special kind of cute as everything is hand-printed with hand-carved and vintage lino blocks. Whether you choose a lucky cat apron or a kokeshi teatowel, or something featuring one of the many beautiful flower designs originally used for wallpaper, you’re getting something made with love and totally unique, not to mention Japanese to the extreme. More kawaii designs are being promised soon so keep an eye out!

There, you can get catpop sticker sheets and some adorable kawaii paintings. It’s a contest to see what melts first; the catpops or your heart! (sorry)

Tamo

Posted: January 25th, 2010, by mar-c

Tamo is an adorable shop based in Norway selling the cutest things! It’s got all our favourite kawaii brands, including Shinzi Katoh, Decole and Momiji, and even has a section devoted to Red Riding Hood. Don’t stray into the kids’ clothing sections though unless you actually have a child to buy for, or you’ll be setting yourself up for a world of envy. I’m now wondering how to shrink myself even further so I can fit into a Mil de Berry bunny jumper. Waah!

Although the site is in Norwegian, they’re happy to take orders internationally. Just pop them an email and they’ll help you out.

Guest Picks: Red Riding Hood

Posted: January 20th, 2010, by Monsieur Le Bun

Bon journee mes amis! Today we have ze extra speciale guest pickings as la chere Jen of Jempins returnez to show us her favorit kawaii featuring ze Red Riding Hood. Allez Jen!

* * *

Bonjour Jean Claude! C’est moi, Jen, back for seconds with my guest picks, this time with a Red Riding Hood theme. I can’t claim that Little Red Riding Hood was my favourite favourite fairy tale as a child, or even my favourite book (that was The Enormous Turnip for some reason), but I did enjoy the story, especially the versions where the woodsman cut open the wolf’s stomach and grandma came tumbling out. Now that I’m a (ahem) grownup though I love the iconography of Red Riding Hood, and I’m not alone, there’s loads of super cute Red Riding Hood goodies catching my eye recently.

I did totally love Ladybird books when I was little (who didn’t?), so first up is this print of the cover of the vintage Red Riding Hood book. I don’t know if it’s necessarily kawaii, but it’s definitely nostalgic cute for me.

Although, if I’m choosing prints it’s going to be a tough call between that and this one from The Poppy Tree on Etsy.  It’s so cute, I love the trees and Grandma’s House running round the edge of the picture, and the sneaky wolf is another little girl!

One of my recent, as yet unsatisfied obsessions is rubber stamps. I really don’t know what attracts me to them, because I never use them, but I covet many. So my next pick is this set from Craft Pudding, also on Etsy.  My favourite is the wolf, he looks smug yet charismatic don’t you think?

Next up is this Fairy Land letter set from Kaimo on Artbox.  I’ve had a long term love affair with stationery, especially letter sets and this one has my head quite turned.

I really feel like any list of kawaii Red Riding Hood items would not be complete without a little Ottogicco, so my final pick is this ridiculously gorgeous lunch box from Cute Like Cherries.  My lunches would be dramatically enhanced I think if I was able to transport them in such a cute fashion.

And that’s them all!  I hope they meet with your approval Monsieur le Bun and I pass my Kawaii Exams. Kisses! Jen

Merci Jen! I certainly approvez. It is ze little known fact that ze ancestors of Le Bun were in ze basket of Red Riding Hood! Or so mon grandmere would tell moi when I was ze petit bun! I see you all next week, au revoir!

PS. Deux winners of ze magnet contest have not yet claimed their prizes. please to check ze post and see if you are un winner. If I hear nothing by Monday, I will pick ze new winners.

The Cute Institute

Posted: January 19th, 2010, by mar-c

We’ve featured The Cute Institute’s Zazzle store before but I was pleased to see they also have an Etsy shop! Billed as “your one-stop shop to cuteness!!”, it certainly lives up to expectations with some adorable cards, badges and jewelllery featuring cute illustrations. Who can resist a pirate popsicle or a lucky cat? Not me!
