I don’t know about you, but I love to relax with a video game and my favourite console has always been a Nintendo. I think about playing Super Mario as a child all the way up to Animal Crossing as an adult, but whichever game is your favourite, there’s sure to be a craft or recipe to match. So, here are a few that’ll allow us to add a bit of Nintendo-themed whimsy to our homes.
Michelle Meng takes us on another eating like villagers adventure of making foods from the Animal Crossing game. This time it’s summer, so expect peach tart and melon soda float as just a couple of the recipes.
The Pokemon games are always an anticipated release and what better snack to enjoy while playing, than these perfectly themed cheese tarts. I think my favourite designs have to be Gengar and Psyduck, but honestly, they all look too cute to eat!! Make sure to switch on the subtitles for the recipe instructions.
Kirby is the perfect shape for a cake pop and the best thing about them is that you can make them in any flavour you like best. Rosanna Pansino even adds a variety of facial expressions, which is so fun, and I especially like the grumpy looking Kirby with the cross eyebrows.
Let’s a-go! CookieliciousNZ always makes the most incredible cookies and this time they’re themed to Super Mario and I don’t think I can pick a favourite. You’ve got mushrooms, question boxes, piranha plants and fire flowers amongst others, so you could make a lot of one kind, or create them all. The captions are detailed and include piping tip sizes, which is extremely helpful.
Yeppenny Doodles creates adorable miniature clay Koroks complete with their little leaf mask. A Korok is a little wooden person who protects the forests in the Legend of Zelda series of games and I think it would sit perfectly next to your screen while you play.
These chibi polymer clay Pikmin by Polymomo Tea would make the perfect little charms to hang on your keys or even just to put on all the different shelves around your house. See if you can get your friends to spot them!
Another Animal Crossing craft, but this time it’s a tissue box disguised as one of the classic brick houses with the red roof from the earlier games. Crossing Crafts does an incredible job and my favourite part is the fact that the tissues come out of the chimney like clouds of smoke. Wonderful.
Do you play the Kirby games and wish that you had a little Kirby at home? Well, now you can make your own little pink spherical buddy in amigurumi form. Ami Amour provides a free pattern to follow and there’s also a separate tutorial to give him a star too.
NendoZaiker is a whizz with clay art, so this one might be more to enjoy rather than make, but it could be such a fun challenge. Follow along while they make a Splatoon Aquarium complete with resin water. I just love how this looks once it’s all finished.
