While Wimbledon means tennis to everyone, for us Brits it also means it’s the start of Pimm’s season and time for strawberries and cream too. Here are a selection of Wimbledon-inspired recipes, with the classic Pimm’s and strawberries featuring too.

Afternoon Crumbs uses a domed cake pan to make tennis balls filled with a yummy fresh strawberry buttercream inside. While there’s a guide, there’s no specific recipe, but it allows you to use a favourite cake and icing recipe that’s right for your diet.

Speaking of strawberries, The Little Blog of Vegan sandwiches these beautiful little strawberry shaped biscuits with a strawberry buttercream, but also with a burst of strawberry jam. I love the touch of adding chia seeds to the top of the biscuit to make the strawberry seed design too

Eton Mess is a British dessert made from a mix of cream, strawberries and meringue and Gluten Free Cuppa Tea has turned it into a traybake, using a vanilla cake with strawberries in as the base. The topping of the cake is whipped cream, chopped strawberries and a sprinkle of crisp meringue.

Pimm’s is probably one of the most British of cocktails and combines Pimm’s No 1 with lemonade. The glasses, or jugs, are filled with chopped orange, strawberry and cucumber and then mint is added before serving. Instead of creating a cocktail, Tesco has used the mix to create ice lollies! Perfect for the heatwave we’ve been having.

These little Pimm’s cheesecake jars are super cute with their Pimm’s jelly tops and fruity garnish. I love that the cucumber has been made into ribbons for a slightly fancier look.

Lemon drizzle is one of my favourite cakes and Good Housekeeping has upgraded it to a Pimm’s and lemonade drizzle cake (or you could keep it as a normal lemon drizzle if you don’t fancy the alcohol). The base cake has Pimm’s and orange zest in it and the drizzle is a Pimm’s and lemonade combination. The top is beautifully garnished with a pile of orange, cucumber, strawberries and mint and would be a fabulous addition to any summer party.

Lemon isn’t just a perfect flavour for summer, but tennis balls are the perfect design for a classic lemon macaron. Once Upon A Cake takes their recipe from Pierre Hermé, the renowned pastry chef and they look delicious.

For this recipe from Tum Yum Yum, we have little white chocolate and lime macarons decorated as tennis balls which sit on matcha grass atop a matcha cupcake. I love the way the icing is naturally darkened to make more of a grassy coloured I think it’s all very effective!

The classic Japanese fruit sando has started to be adopted over here too and the combination of strawberry and cream is just perfect for summer and Wimbledon. Just One Cookbook is my ‘go to’ website for Japanese recipes and they recommend a soft Japanese milk bread as the perfect accompaniment to the fruit and cream.
