As a spiritual follow-up to my previous posts on Thai kawaii artists and illustrators based in Thailand, I’m now featuring four Filipino kawaii illustrators in this blog. It’s been so fun supporting local artists both old and new since I’ve returned to my home country, and I’m happy to share with you some of my favorites.

Ella Lama has been one of the OG illustrators I’ve followed since I was in uni, and her animal-inspired button pins and laptop stickers never fail to bring a smile to my face. She’s also written helpful, feel-good online journal entries on her creative process and what it’s like to be a freelance artist. You can purchase Ella’s merch via her Pinkoi shop (ships worldwide).

Similarly, PaperDollzCo is one of the first few local sticker shops I discovered when I started taking journaling more seriously. The Paper Dollz come with various hair & skin color options as well as a multitude of themes that make them perfect for planning. It’s also been great seeing how the artist, Catherine, has developed both her art style & the brand over the years. You can get your own Paper Doll via Amazon, Etsy, or the PaperDollzCo website (all worldwide).

I actually found out about AJ Tuana when I still lived in Thailand, so I was really glad when she opened her local online store. I love how she’s able to make cute, chibi characters even smol-er and more adorable than they already are. She illustrates both original characters and fan art, and international friends can support her via her monthly mail club (worldwide) or grab merch through Lovely Day Studio (US only).

pomelopaints.co by Caitlin is a more recent discovery, and fellow “anik-anik” (knick-knacks in Filipino) fans will love what she has to offer. As a self-professed baked goods enthusiast with self-deprecating humor, I instantly fell in love with the #1 breadloser bag, so you could pretty much say that I found the best thing since sliced bread when I got the last piece! Featuring both original and fanmade art with a splash of nostalgia & juminocore, you can get your fix via Etsy and join the pomelo sticker mail club (both worldwide).
