To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Sylvanian Families, also known as Ternurines or Calico Critters, here are some Sylvanian themed crafts to try. Whatever your medium of choice, there’s a craft idea for you!

Did you know there’s an official Sylvanian Families DIY kit range? They’re part of a collaboration with Craft Heart Tokai, so they are mainly available in Japan, but they can also be found via Kobee Japan Museum Store (JP) or Ebay. They come with a Sylvanian figure and you can make costumes, dioramas, or accessories. I’m especially obsessed with this strawberry pocket kit!

I adore this cat and rabbit baby crochet pattern bundle by Crocheting Birds. She’s also releasing an elephant baby pattern soon.
Have you thought about wearing your Sylvanians? This daisy pocket protector Youtube tutorial by ALB in Wonderland can be attached to clothing, or you could make it into a keychain, or maybe stitch it onto a tote?

For a creative way to dress up your Sylvanians, try this shortcake costume crochet pattern by Eun Bang Ul!
Another fun costume for your Sylvanians is this mushroom hat TikTok tutorial. The creator, .sylvanian.world, has lots more DIY ideas on their profile too.

If knitting is more your thing, this squirrel mittens knitting pattern from Sunflower Knitting co is so cute! You could use the graph for other projects too, what about a matching squirrel scarf?

Lastly, this Sylvanian Families Cosy Adventures colouring book (UK) is due to be released in July and has over 40 adorable designs to colour.
Happy making!
