I really hope it’s going to snow this winter, but if it doesn’t I’ll be finding other ways to bring snowflakes into my life. Here are a few ways to DIY your own.
Edible snowflakes would probably make the best alternative to real snow and I love the variety of designs that Curly Girl Kitchen has. Plus, they come with a dusting of sparkling sugar to make them look like ice.
A nice cosy activity on a cold evening is a bit of embroidery and I’ve found a few downloadable patterns that bring the snowfall. Why Knot Stitches has lovely designs including a flurry of snowflakes.
Rose Stitch Art incorporates them alongside some warming winter mulling spices and other natural elements.
I think paper quilling looks amazing and these by Abi’s Artwork could be used for all kinds of artwork, including on homemade Christmas cards.
These macrame snowflakes to hang on your tree or around your house are a lovely craft and A Wonderful Thought’s post comes packed with guide photos. If you enjoy this, then we have another post on SCK all about macrame Christmas decorations!
This poster board snowflake decoration at Cuckoo 4 Design is great because you don’t need many materials to make it. However, they do include a free SVG file if you want to have your cutting machine do the work for you!
Paulina’s Passions makes nail art look easy, which means you can be adorned with snowflakes all winter long.
These clay trees are stamped with snowflakes, like a snowy forest, and are perfect for hanging on the tree or using as gift tags on your gifts. You could also try this with a snowflake-shaped cookie cutter.
If you’re a crochet fan, then you can create your own collection of snowflakes out of wool using Crochetpedia’s detailed tutorial. There are a few different snowflake styles, but these ones are called Frozen Flower.
I started with snowflake cookies and I’ll end with another edible DIY – this gorgeous snowflake cake from Preppy Kitchen covered in ice and snow (the icing versions!) and filled with a buttercream that looks just like a candy cane.
