Planning some crafts to keep you busy through the cold weather or holiday break? Whether you’ve got a project in mind or need some inspiration, I’ve found some cute craft supplies that are perfect for the season with winter themes and colours – and a little bit of sparkle!
While I was researching this post, I realised that craft supplies don’t really fit in our kawaii shopping guide so I collected up all our favourite shops and made a new page – The Best Shops For Cute Craft Supplies Worldwide! Most of the picks below are widely available so use the guide to find sites near you, or shop around.
This Totoro origami paper pack at Cute Things From Japan (JP) is obviously ideal for origami but also for other paper crafts, journaling and gift wrapping. You get 20 sheets in 4 different winter patterns.
Scrapbook.com (US) has loads of different scrapbooking packs that are also great for journaling and cardmaking. This Winter Wonder Collection from Simple Stories has 12 double-sided printed card sheets and a sheet of stickers with all sorts of cute seasonal designs to cut up and use however you like.
If you’re not confident at drawing – or have terrible handwriting! – stamps can help you to get creative. Lawn Fawn (US) has plenty of cute winter-themed clear stamp sets to choose from, which you can arrange into scenes and then colour in. I really love that ‘build your own snowman’ set! They also sell paper, ink and other supplies if you already have some stamps.
Yarn isn’t just for knitting and crochet – pom poms are a fun way to use fancy specialty yarns that might be more expensive or difficult to work with. Love Wool (UK) has Rico’s Ricorumi Twinkly Twinkly in 10 colourful shades and this white rainbow is so pretty.
DMC (global) have some beautiful specialty threads for embroidery or cross stitch. Mouliné Light Effects comes in 36 cool colours with metallic and pearlescent effects. Click through to see them closer up.
Wool Couture (UK) has themed wool felt bundles for all seasons and projects and these blues look perfect for winter sewing. Changing up the colours of a pattern you’ve already made can make it feel like a whole new project.
I was surprised how little kawaii winter fabric is out there but I guess Christmas is more popular for this time of year. Spoonflower (US) does have thousands of kawaii winter designs to browse through but I also really love these Snow Babies from Ruby Star Society’s Jolly Darlings collection. It’s available in 3 colours, plus a charm pack of co-ordinating backgrounds from Sew Hot (UK).
If you’re getting started with polymer clay crafts, this FIMO 12 pack (UK/US) has small blocks of pastel colours including some wintry blues and metallics.
The winter sprinkle mixes at Happy Kawaii Supplies (US) almost look good enough to eat but please use them for crafts, not baking! There’s all sorts of different materials for decoden, resin, clay or jewellery-making so have a look around.
