I would imagine one of the hardest things about being vegan is the loss of some of your favourite chocolate treats (and for me, cheese). So this post is dedicated to the most chocolatey of recipes, but they’re all completely vegan.
I actually had no idea that bourbon biscuits were vegan, so this was a bit of a revelation! I’ve made these before using my favourite non-vegan brownie recipe, but I just loved the way they looked and tasted with the biscuits mixed through that I had to share the original recipe from The Little Blog of Vegan.
While you do need 4 colours of frosting to make these swirled chocolate galaxy cupcakes from Vegan Dollhouse, they look ‘out of this world’ (sorry) when finished. Not only are the cupcakes chocolatey, but the black coloured frosting is too.
Jaffa Cakes are a classic British treat, but unlike bourbon biscuits, they are unfortunately not vegan. However, it’s not all bad news, because The Veg Space has a recipe for a version of them that look just like the real thing.
If you love that combination of chocolate and orange that you get from a Jaffa Cake, but want much more of a chocolate hit, then these chocolate orange cupcakes from Jane’s Patisserie should be just the ticket. I’ve eaten a few of her recipes before, which have all been fab, and these just look insanely good.
Love & Lemons’ pudding pops are like a frozen creamy American-style pudding using very healthy ingredients, which means we can eat more right? Avocado and almond butter give them their creamy texture, but they include both choc chips AND cacao powder for a double chocolate hit.
I adore a German chocolate cake and I’m so glad that Minimalist Baker has made a vegan version so that everyone gets to taste how delicious they are. You also have the option for using a box mix for the cake recipe too, so it’s perfect for those who just want to level up a basic cake.
These cute bunny buns from Bites by Bianca don’t look chocolatey on the outside, but they are stuffed with plain vegan chocolate, giving you an adorable looking vessel for your melted chocolate. What could be better?
Macarons are another treat that are usually not vegan, but thanks to chickpeas we have a way to change that. Pies & Tacos does have a delicious looking normal chocolate macarons recipe, but these ones are a little bit different; they look like an avocado while using avocado in the ganache too!
Which one will you try?
