What better way to celebrate Halloween than with some ghost type Pokemon. Here are a few DIYs to try out and make your home (mainly the kitchen) a little more haunted. I’ve also picked out a few purchases for you to share your love for all things ghost-type.
I love Inspired to Taste’s use of an ice lolly mould to make these Gengar cookie pops. They sound delicious and the design is so fun, especially the little spikes on his back.
Duskull is probably on of the most spooky looking ghost types, so why not try whipping up a paper decoration or two for your Halloween table, shelf or mantelpiece. Paper Pokes have so many Pokemon listed, that you could make all of your favourite ghost types.
Miscellaneous Mao is probably one of my favourite treat creators on Instagram. The page is full of the cutest Pokemon creations (occasionally some other IP), including Gengar ube cookies and spooky pumpkin pies shaped like some of the characters. The process is sometimes shared in the post and sometimes in story highlights, but their website has a link to all of the main recipes used for each type of treat.
I adore these Gastly lollipops from Manna-Tanuki and the way the gas surrounding them is made. These would be perfect for trick-or-treaters, but I’d much rather keep them to myself!
If you fancy a little sewing project to keep you occupied as it starts to get darker earlier and earlier, then I have to recommend this adorable Mimikyu plush (can Mimikyu be called adorable??) from Sew Desu Ne? The instructions are super detailed, it includes pictures too and both the sewing pattern and embroidery pattern are completely free. (If you don’t have the sewing skills to make this yourself, then Pokemon Center Japan (requires forwarding service) has one ready made!)
TikTok also has some great ghostly Pokemon tutorials from Cupcake Dex, including these fantastic Gastly cocoa bombs and cute Pumpkaboo cakes (some tutorials are more than one video long so head to Dex’s page for the follow ups)
Having so many ghost Pokemon displayed in one place surely can’t be beaten and this cross stitch pattern from Colorfully Sarah has a mixture of ghost types from different generations. Once you’re done, you can hang it on the wall and welcome the little ghosties into your home every Halloween.
If you’re an avid player of the TCG then this Ghostly Gathering deck box (UK/US) from The Pokemon Center would be great for holding your ghost-type deck and the Haunted Ruins play mat (UK/US) for defeating your opponents on.
I’ve been a fan of GiGi Illustration (UK) for a long time and I love this Ghosty Trio art print with a very spooky take on Gastly’s evolutionary line.
You could also wear that same evolutionary line on a t-shirt from Truffle Shuffle (UK), featuring Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar surrounded by purple mist. Sizes S-XXL
