I recently reviewed 2 Phomemo label printers and found they had a lot of possible uses for organisation and crafts. I’ve been thinking of ways they can improve my life so here’s a few cute projects I’ve been working on at home.
Rainbow Storage Labels
My rainbow storage drawers have been a life changer for organising all my shop stock and I love how colourful they are. I had to talk myself out of buying a label printer when I got them and instead made labels with washi tape and sharpies. That worked fine but after 2 years in my extremely sunny studio the ink is fading, the corners are peeling away and I’ve since moved things around. It was time for a refresh!
I decided to use clear labels as the drawers are so colourful and since I wanted a larger size, I used the M02Pro Pocket Printer. It was easy to pick a simple frame border and a bold font and I had them all printed in minutes
I was even able to add my own Ghost character for the ghosts drawer! As you can see, these are definitely an improvement on the old washi tape labels.
I then trimmed them to size and stuck them to the correct drawer. The labels are showing no signs of fading so I hope these will last until the next time I reorganise, but if not it’s quick enough to make new ones.
Organising My Tea Cupboard
I drink a lot of tea and my tea cupboard is stocked with so many different flavours and types including decaf, loose tea, cold water infusions and herbal teas. I store them in small tins and boxes but even I often forget what’s inside. Labels are the obvious answer!
I really liked the fruit-themed labels that came with the D30 Label Printer and thought they would add some extra colour coding as well as looking cute. I reorganised my teas (adding some new plastic boxes from IKEA) and then wrote a list to decide on the label designs. In the end I chose citrus for decaf, avocado for caffeinated teas and peach for herbal, and mostly stuck to that. It’s easy to change the font size between labels and I was impressed that you could add line breaks for the really long ones so they’re still a readable font size.
This feels so much more organised now and visitors can choose their own drinks without having to ask or guess. The labels have a glossy finish that should help protect them from any splashes and general handling. They also seem easy enough to remove if I want to change things up. (btw if anyone is horrified at the coffee situation, I have an Aeropress out of shot!)
Happy Mail
The Phomemo printers aren’t just for labelling though. I love sending surprise happy mail to friends and family but often get lazy about decorating the outside. The M02Pro Pocket Printer app includes lots of fun frames so I used coloured sticker paper to make cute labels for the recipient name and my return address (this is real if you ever want to swap mail with me). Since the Phomemo printers use thermal ink, you don’t need to cover anything up to protect it from rainy weather.
I was also able to import my own Happy Mail postmark and printed that on a clear label so it looks more realistic. Add a few stripes of cute washi tape (by Doodlebug) and anyone would be delighted to receive this.
More DIY Ideas
There are lots of other fun things you can try too and Natasja previously shared DIY label ideas for cards, journaling and gifts that would all work well with the Phomemo printers.
