We’re just a couple of days away from Mother’s Day here in the US, so if you’re scrambling for some quick gift ideas, I’ve got you covered with some of my favorite DIY crafts!
If you’re handy with a needle and thread with some felt laying around, Tiny Craft World has a cute and detailed tutorial for a mini felt cake that is great if you want to make your mom a cake but live long distance!
There are lots of cute origami DIYs to be found on Youtube that work for the occasion, too. One of my top favorites is Kamikey Original’s origami apron tutorial. If your mom is always in the kitchen, it would make an adorable card, memo, or gift tag for the holiday!
Ayakful’s channel also has a video on how to make a beautiful 3D origami flower card that is also quite eye-catching but is deceptively simple!
Handmade Charlotte has an adorable peas in a pod necklace tutorial (written by Mollie from Wild Olive) that’s a cute idea if you have some jewelry making supplies in your stash!
For anyone with some clay lying around, the Mother’s Day floral moon clay figure tutorial by HuiHui Crafts is one of my favorite gift ideas ever! The video is in Chinese, but it’s still very easy to follow along, and while the maker uses air dry clay, you could just as easily use polymer.
My mom absolutely loves plants and flowers, so I’m considering the DIY kawaii Mother’s Day vase on the Decoart website. It includes a free printable pattern, so all you need is acrylic paint and a vase!
Wild Olive has a beautiful floral watercolor card tutorial that’s definitely worth checking out as well if you’re on the hunt for special card ideas! If you don’t have a flower punch, you can always cut out the flowers by hand.
And if you’re really crunched for time, or don’t have the luxury of being able to make things just now, there are plenty of printable options to be found on Etsy! Some personal highlights that I found while browsing are the kawaii bunny Mother’s Day card from MochiKawaiiDesigns, Purrfect Mom card by ViolinEvents, and customizable quarantine Mother’s Day card by CutePartyDash.
