Christmas Visiting Japan

Kawaii Christmas in Japan

On our recent trip to Japan, Nicolette and I managed to catch a bit of both  the Halloween and Christmas fun. Here’s a few photos we took of the cute Christmas products at our favourite kawaii shops!

Pokemon Center

The first festive displays we saw were at the Pokemon Center DX as the Pokemon Cafe was already getting into the Christmas spirit with an adorable knitted theme.

The products turned up in the stores soon after including these very detailed Pikachu plushies. They make my 15 year old Christmas ‘Chu look super basic. You can buy some of the Christmas range online from Japan Stuffs and the Pokemon Center USA.

Sumikko Gurashi Shop

This was our first visit to the new Sumikko Gurashi shop in Tokyo Station and it was a dream come true for two Sumikko fans. Who else wants this Christmas tree?

The Christmas plushies weren’t on sale yet but they did have these fun stockings filled with snacks. Everything is now sold out online, sorry.

Rilakkuma Store / Kiddyland

We spent rather a lot of time at various Rilakkuma Stores and the huge Kiddyland in Harajuku and couldn’t resist a look at the Christmas plush the morning they went on sale.

They were as adorable as expected and I’m not sure why we didn’t buy one of everything. You can still order some of these direct from San-X Japan using a forwarding service like Tenso.

One of my favourite purchases was this stand up decoration, which is on my mantelpiece. We did buy quite a few other things and we’ll be sharing photos on Instagram over the holidays if you’d like to see. Our dress-up Rilakkuma & Kogumachan have two new festive outfits each!

SCK Holiday Schedule

We won’t be posting on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or January 1st but should have posts on most other days including our staff picks of the year. Hope you have a super cute and relaxing break too!

Hi! Me again! I was wondering I could go visit Japan amd get the plush from their stores. When the Pandemic is over, when do u think it is the best time to find plush Holiday merchandise? Thanks!!

Usually the launch dates for new collections are the same day in store and online, so Christmas is late October/early November. Sometimes it’s a staggered launch though so you’d need to be there for a couple of weeks, or longer.
