I spend a lot of time at home so I always love to pick up little decor items to make it a happy space. Being surrounded by cute designs, bright colours and happy faces always cheers me up, and you don’t even need to spend a lot. Here’s a few homeware picks I’ve added recently, plus some more cute ideas.

I was in IKEA (global) last week and could not resist a FRÖVÄXT vase! They come in 3 sizes/colours and all have a happy face on one side and sad face on the other. Buying the whole set is a mere £11 but I already have a lot of vases so I went for the yellow one as it’s extra cheerful. Now I need to make some more felt flowers to fill it. PS. If you’re visiting a store, make sure to hang out with the extremely huggable giant plush bear/beanbag GREJSIMOJS. I miss them already.

I also bought another yellow happy vase from Sass & Belle (UK) earlier this year, which makes me smile every time I pass it. It’s sold out now but they have plenty of other kawaii designs, like this bumblebee. I think it would look even cuter in the kitchen for utensils.

My friend gave me this adorable kawaii toaster USB night light and while it has a really delightful glow, it also looks cute as a decoration. I especially love that you turn it on in the same way as making toast. It’s available from Rex (UK) along with lots of other cute designs, including a pink teddy bear and blue dinosaur.

Clutter is always a problem in my house and baskets and boxes are a lifesaver for things like storing a craft or review project when I’m not working on it, or collecting items while tidying before I return them all to their proper place. Kids sections are always good for cute storage and I have the bunny from these plush storage baskets at H&M Home (global), which is really light but stands up well when empty.

I have a lot of smaller ones too that are great for all those little bits and pieces that collect on your bedside table or desk. This strawberry storage basket from Flying Tiger (EU) is styled for picnics but would also be cute in the kitchen.

My rented flat has the most boring beige carpets so I love little rugs and mats to cheer things up. These Som Som indoor mats at MochiThings (US) have the best faces and would really make me laugh. They’re soft but with a non-slip backing so great all over the house where you need a little extra comfort or cuteness.

I rarely use scented candles but that doesn’t stop me buying them if the holder is kawaii! I really want this planet from Legami (EU) and they have lots of other designs too, including a cat, llama and unicorn, all with different scents.

Of course, the classic kawaii decor is plushies doubling as cushions and I have quite a collection, mostly from HAPiNS (JP – requires forwarding service). Their Happy Marche body pillows are too sweet and this ice cream is perfect for summer. There’s also a banana, loaf, fried shrimp and edamame (with cats!).
